Hi everyone,
our vintage van arrived yesterday. It passed the test with flying colours and survived being driven from Adelaide by an ex-racing car driver and hotrod enthusiast (Nev from Horsham who has an amazing collection of cars and memorabillia). Apparently it towed beautifully and arrived in one very gorgeous piece!!
It is a 1959 'Ramsay' bondwood caravan.(14ft 'holiday maker').
The previous owner met the son of the builder in 2004 and acquired some great information about the company. Will elaborate on that later.
The inside is totally original and in amazing condition. My husband's words were 'it has been rebuilt, the wood is to new'.
I was wondering if there were any vintage vanners on the northside of Brisbane who had an hour to spare to come over for a cup of tea,and cast your expert eyes over this lovely boy and give us a bit of direction.
Or if anyone can give me a number of a reliable caravan place that can help me with the roadworthy and gas certificate (for registration in QLD) to start with.
Any links to threads on the forum would be appreciated.
I did find Don Ricardo's thread on Ramsay Caravans in 'Down Memory Lane'.
The owner also gifted me an old 'Philips' Bakelite radio if anyone knows of someone who would like it.
Some lovely original curtains as well to show......
Best head off to work......would much rather spit and polish our new addition!!
Any help is very much appreciated!! Megan
