Hi everyone, I was searching for a newbie thread to introduce myself but couldn't seem to find one. My name is Joanne, Jo for short , or you can call me Destrier. I am searching for a Carapark 'Toaster' Van.. I just missed out on Morrelli's van as I was away all week working and just saw the ad.I am a photographer by trade and mostly shoot for magazines. I live in NSW and though I have never restored a van, however I come from a very capable family, who are van friendly and have always restored old cars etc. If anyone has any information on where I may find one of these old girls, or can point me in the right direction, please message me. Thanks for your time.

There is one sitting in a back yard of a house at Warwick. Unsure of the size but it looks similar to the 10.9 Carapark Hunter I had. Early last year there was a really good one for sale in Brisbane. It had been gutted and new floor etc put in before project put on hold. It was advertised on here so would be in the archives. Rollydog

Thanks RollyDog.. I think the one that was in Brisbane sold last weekend. I missed it due to work commitments. I am watching the DON that is currently listed on eBay, so will see how that goes. Thanks for the response.

Hello, I have been following "Vintage Caravans" for a few years now and just love when I see anything to do with Carapark - especially Carapark Hunter Junior or 'toaster'.
I have a Carapark Hunter Junior that we s-o-o-o wanted to renovate but my husband has got so many other things going that she just sits there waiting, waiting... so, I have decided to let her go.
So Destrier, if you are interested, please contact me, not sure how you go about doing that because this is the first time I have posted but I am sure we will work it out.

Hi Everyone, I've been absent for a few weeks with work, family stuff etc. I wanted to let you guys know that I have found and purchased a carapark and will be collecting it this weekend. So excited.. So thank you to one and all for your suggestions, advice and support. I am currently fighting off the start of a cold, so fingers crossed I will be fine for the weekend and will take plenty of photos for the board. Enjoy your week and again, many thanks .

Hi Jo glad to hear that you've found your Carapark. Is it the 10.6 ft'er? I finally dug up the photos I had on my friends carapark on the weekend & was about to send them to you but my friend's van has a lot of rot in one corner. All the ply had dissolved there! So I'm glad you found you're own little baby! Smiles

Thanks Smile and Seeshell... Yes it's the smaller size, the Hunter Jr. If it's possible to be in love with just a few photos, then Im in love. Thankfully the van is located near some good friends who went and checked it all out for me and said it was in great condition, no rotting floors etc. So, she will soon be calling Newcastle home. I just have to get over this revolting flu before Sat. I will make sure I post tons of photos along the way of her new journey. Many thanks again for the advice, suggestions and possible vans for sale. Cheers, Destrier.

Hi Destrier, I'm with you - these vans are very easy to love! I have mine completely stripped inside at the moment, and am just considering replacing the floor. It took me a long time to bring myself to pull out the interior - it is/was all original and in 90% good condition, but I had to rewire, and want to insulate as well. Glad I did do it as there are a couple of leaks at the aluminium sheet joins - the original mastic sealer has hardened and cracked- so no longer waterproof. It has become a big job, but I am having so much fun whenever I get time to just hang out in my van with some tools and try to figure out how to do stuff! And the mob on this forum are always willing to help with excellent advise when you ask for it. Have fun and keep the pictures coming (like I haven't managed to do for a while!)
Best advice i can give you - if you have to do any renovation - spend the extra and get a quality riveter!! ;D ;D

Hi Brock, Thanks for the tips. yes they are easy to love and I really can not wait to get started on my girl, but it's going to have to wait a few more weeks. I have a rotten flu and have had to reschedule when I could go get her, so it won't be for a few more weeks now. I had a friend look her over who is a welder by trade and he told me she was in great condition. And one of my brothers owns a metal fabrication company up this way and his brother in law, has offered to help with any riveting etc. So, I will show them your post. At Mark T.. You made me spit my coffee!! I nearly cried when I saw that photo.lol Thanks again everyone.. can't wait to start sharing her make over with the board. Cheers Destrier.
