Clark Rubber have/had reinforced rubber strip of various widths about 2-3mm thick. I used a 50mm wide one once on a previous van for the same purpose you need. I think the reinforced stuff lasts longer. Never had any problem with mine.

just a mention about the the flashing above the rear door,i used the plastic or something like that used by brickeys you can get it in many widths ,it's black and i have had no worries i cut a gully with my power saw with a 30% angle and that one side a nice little gully to sit in and glued the other edge went under the hinge making a nice water proof bond. maybe this pic mite show better it's the black bit

Doug, Yea the nationals are definately on track, my deadline at the moment is Cooly's , less than 3 weeks away now.. so see how i go. Dave, its getting there hey. I have replaced all the suspension mounting bolts. and will be doing the drawbar ones very soon. The underneath side i havent touched yet, i will leave that to after cooly's As for mudgaurds, i ended up buying another set, which i have painted, I will take a few more pics in the next few days..

Hi,
Good to see the progress, & good to see another genuine early teardrop being saved.
Always amazes me when people build "replica" teardrops they dont follow the profile of the early Aussie built ones. I dont believe it would be any harder to do than some of the horrible shaped profiles that have been built and claimed to be "OLD SKOOL REPLICA"
Hope to catch up at Cooly next week. we're camped at Kirra, along with a few of the Vintage Van Forum members
