Hello all, I just bought my first caravan. I was told she was a 1956 liteace, Not sure if it is correct? Would love your thoughts. Thank-you kindly, Mia.

Hi and welcome to the forum Mia. What a lovely first van you found! If you look under the Down History Lane section of the first page, click that and then you will find a heading "Caravan and Topic Index - start your search here" Go into that and scroll down to Litecraft. There you will find an "Ace" model listed. This may be what the seller is talking about (unless they towed the van in a Toyota Liteace!! ) The shape is certainly there, but some thing on your van seem to indicate that it has had an overhaul - the cladding is different, the porthole seems very low down, the windows are aluminium, the stable door is no longer there. It may also be that yours is a later model than the one shown, but that would make it a a sixties van. Be interesting to see what others can add. Regardless, you have a very useable and attractive van there and should have a lot of fun with it. Enjoy! Ray

Thank-you all! I can see a new addiction developing! It does say litecraft on the rego so Ray you are spot on, you do know your caravans. I have a lot to learn and am really enjoying it. I plan to use her for what she was designed for, my little happy holiday home up here in Cairns. Interior.....I'm thinking off white, pea green with hints of red. I'll keep you posted

Hi Mia. A bit hard to see the wall problem you speak of from the pic. Can you can a close-up that may be more helpful? If the table is pulling at the wall framing, then there could be a problem with the frame itself at that point, which may need to be sorted out before painting. Ray

The caravan is going great, at first I thought I would just paint her and deal with any problems when they arised......but here I am fixing walls and taking the old/new paint off. I decided to take the recent paint off so I can really see whats going on and all is better than I thought. We are hoping to take her to a festival next weekend! My aim is to have her painted with bedding....buying a light today so I can work nights!

When you start buying work lights for night work, you know you're hooked on vintage vans ;D ;D ;D
She's coming along really well, Mia. Presume you've got the table mount sorted out.
Good luck, keep at it.

Yay! I made progress! I woke at 5.30am this morning and thought it's time to tackle the caravan! (after a long break) I painted like a mad woman and now keep finding myself standing in the middle of it....dreaming. I'm close! There were times when I thought I would never get thru it. Sure you have all felt the same too.

Mama mia ;D ;D she's going like a crazy woman You're doing well. Yes, we all go through those "stop" phases, and then get back into it with renewed energy, as you are doing. Don't stop now, it's looking really great. That's a very nice grren on those doors. Have to ask, is there a textured finish on the doors or is that the photo? looks quite interesting if it is a texture. Keep at it, and I guess at the moment it's also a case of Keep dry. Have heard there is a fair bit of rain in Nth Qld. Ray

Hi Ray, I thought of you when I put up my post. Yes the doors are textured (a bugger to paint but beautiful). I will take some more photos soon.

Nice van Mia. We in the "on again off again restoration company" refer to those "stop" phases as "the stitch". Like when you've run along way and get a stitch in your side. I've had one for too long and must do something about it soon. Maybe when the weather cools down. Keep up the good work Mia Regards Beetles

Mr Moderator - wonder if this thread should graduate to the Member's Photo Album section???
Mia - re your pics. To paste your pics to full size, after you have put them on photobucket, simply hover your pointer over the pic and then you will see the drop-down menu. Go down to the IMG code and click the box to the right of it. The word "copied" will briefly appear which tells you it has been copied. Then go to the thread you are writing on the forum and using your edit menu, paste the pic where you want it. You will find that when you post the thread, the full pic will appear.

Hello there, I can not seem to figure out how to load these photos, I will play around it with a bit more...and be back with pictures.
Everything is coming together now, just a matter of money...... mattresses, spare tyre and the previous owner never sent me the rego papers (valid sticker on). I have begged him but no luck so I will have to get it registered again. In that case I will get a electrician and get that working. I have the tap to get pumping, tap pumps when I put it in a bucket of water but can't seem to get it to work in the caravan. The hose perhaps? I was thinking I will replace that next?
Also the pop up sun roof to fix? It was screwed permanently down with a few screws and leaked a little. Hasn't popped in a while!
Oh and the kitchen bench tops need new wood or something, I would also like some kind of backing for the kitchen wall (waterproof). Any suggestions? So close but so many little or big jobs!

G'day Mia, Good to hear that things are coming together. Regarding posting photos, I am assuming that you have uploaded your pics to Photobucket? If that is the case, the following may help (a bit more detailed version of Roehm's instructions above)... When you're in Photobucket, pass your cursor over one of the photos you want to show on the forum. You will then find that a little box appears around it like this: Now, while the box is still there, move your cursor over the smaller box beside 'IMG code' - the one I've arrowed. That's the URL or internet address for the photo (more about that later). While the cursor is on either the words 'IMG code' or on the box with the actual code beside it, click your left hand mouse button. If you watch carefully as you move your cursor over the small box you'll note that the address disappears momentarily and the box flashes 'copied'. That means you've copied the address. The next step is to go to the Post Reply window in the V V forum: > Place your cursor where you want the photo to appear, > Press the Right Hand button on your mouse > Select 'Paste' and the URL will appear in the window. When you press the Preview button at the bottom of the Post Reply window, you should find that your photo appears in your post. What effectively happens is that the forum uses the URL of the photo to fetch the picture from Photobucket. (You can use a similar procedure if your photos have been uploaded to something like Flickr or Picasa instead of Photobucket, but I will need to explain a couple of differences.) I hope that helps. If you're still not sure, yell out and I'll send you a PM with my phone number and email address. You can then give me a ring and I'll talk you through it. Good luck, Don Ricardo

Hi Mia, great little van you have there, you've done a great job on the interior very colourful and cheery, oh and that OWL I think it's mate lives here somewhere, wife took it down but I'm sure it's still here. Forgot to mention, I would definatly replace the hose from the tank to the pump, sounds to me like you have a hole or split in it that is letting in air therefore your sucking air not the water your hoping for.
