G'day OldenHolden, I freighted my Dodge Fargo from Nowra NSW to Bridgetown WA with a bloke by the name of Mark Jeffery. He was excellent as far as keeping me posted on progress and still can't believe how quick he was in delivering my truck. I had got quotes of up to $5500 door to door as most companies viewed my truck as undrivable due to no window glass fitted. From memory I spoke to Mark on a Monday, the Dodge was picked up from Nowra on a Wenesday, and it arrived here at 8 pm on the Saturday night!! Total cost $1250 cash plus a carton of Crownies. Unsure if he can help you or not. His mobile number is/was 0409499464 Hope he can help you, Richard. 0467720433

.....thanks Richard and Sir Firefighter for your responses and the details provided.
PS. you're right about not looking at the tech section, but I did do general searches, which didn't yield any results.
Thanks !!!

After purchasing a 1960 Paramount from Vic, we searched for a transport company that would bring it to us in Newcastle NSW. After recieving several quotes of over $2000 we were put onto one who quoted us $500, arrangements were made and the sellers prepared the van for pickup, however the day before it was due the transport company called to say it was doubling its original quote. Needless to say we told them where to go. So I arranged for a Vic Unregistered Vehicle Permit (cost $25) drove the Falcon down and towed her back legally for under $250 and we got to see some of the country we'd never been to before.

Hi Chuby,
many thanks for the feedback and looks like I will be taking the same path and pick it up myself, as the cheapest quote I got was over $1K. The only problem is my FX rebuild is taking a lot longer to complete, so will just have to wait for a bit longer....
Regards, Tom

I Used a guy named "Tim". He had run out of cards when he delivered the van and I can't remember his business name. 0424588852. He is based in Sydney and goes up and down the coast all the time. I may have been lucky and got a back-load but it was only $700 cash. Now, read this carefully..I will type it only once... Tim was a bit iffy when he picked up the van as he broke off a handle and thought it had rot . "Its wood!" he said. (well der). He wanted to charge more then as he thought he would have to drive more slowly and it would take more time. A mate of his had had a bad experience when he picked up a vintage van. To cut a long story short it fell apart on him. So Tim was subsequently very cautious. It's his insurance after all. But he transported it and it went fine so he may be a little more confident if you can assure him its sound. They strap them down by the axle and hitch so the body is free to do what it likes. If it can't handle the bumps and wind shear you may be picking bits up besides the Hume... regards Paul

You can try the Smart delivery services. I have been taking their help for sending and receiving the packages for a very long time now and I have never been disappointed. They also provide the same day courier service which is like a cherry on top.

Droessle9, this thread related to carrying caravans interstate, probably not something that Smart delivery services would be doing - a bit too big to put into a package, more's the pity!
