Maybe not a good idea to get a caravan due to our awkward site, Maybe better to get a stationwagon with a tent attachment. Thanks for all your help

Sorry humpty I hadn't noticed this post until now George did attend Coledale a few years ago with this Propert, it was a very nice restoration. Give George a ring Colin..... I don't know if it is still available Cobber.

Thanks Guys,
Very much appreciated. I looked up George and the propert on the ourtouringpast website and found these pics there so assumed it was his. I'll call tomorrow and check the status. Not sure on values or cost but by the looks of it it's a good refurb, any views on what they're worth? I will keep you posted and thanks for your help, I love how helpful this website and the people on it are, really great help to a newbie to the scene.
Cheers Fellas, Colin

Hi again Guys, Just thought I'd update you on this one. I spoke to George and have now arranged for a relative up that way to look at it, though I'm not sure he needs to as it all looks great.
I'm just shy of spending a lot of money on something without it being checked out first, call me old fashioned.
So am now waiting on a phone call to say it's as good as it looks and will then seal the deal... am currently chewing my fingernails and think I should just dive in but will try not let my heart rule my wallet... not easy tho!
Will keep you posted, Cheers, Colin

Hi Guys, Well I'm probably a bit over-excired and jumping the gun but I have had it checked out and - as if there was any doubt - I'm told it's a great, sturdy little van that has been very well nursed back to life. So I've sealed the deal tonight and apart from the finer details Propert 8-316 will soon be moving to Melbourne ;D ;D ;D I'm absolutely stoked to be making my VV debut in this top little van... now must look into the 2012 Nationals... Don't worry I won't take credit for George's handywork - I think I might name Propert 8-316 'George' in his honour. Thanks Guys, look forward to showing it off soon! Cheers, Colin ;D ;D ;D

Well done Colin, you should be happy with that one. George also had a Carapark Zestline on his property that I put in the For Sale / wanted thread a couple of years ago... the add seems to have disappeared While you're there ask him if he still has it and check it out if he has..... he may have dropped his price Cobber.

Thanks Cobber, will do,
Charlie, who checked out the van for me, said George tinkers with old cars and really seems to know what he's doing, so I'll be sure and look what else is in the shed... Will update here once I get up there and get my hands my van! :-)
Cheers, Colin

Hi Guys,
Well I finally sealed the deal last weekend and now am the proud owner of Propert 8-316... ;D It's taken a week to recover from the trip, drove from Melbourne to Wagga on Friday night then Wagga to Dubbo, pick up and debrief, then back to Wagga on Saturday for the night and home to Melbourne on Sunday.
I'm stoked with it and have given it a spring clean - it still smells of mothballs though if anyone has a good suggestion to get rid of it (I think the Ply has absorbed it!) - George did a great job on restoring it, but I'll probably give it a cosmetic make-over inside once I've gotten to know it more.
Looking forward to many trips around the place, I still can't get over the comfort and size of it and how small they fold to... Propert was a brilliant engineer with them... Love it!
Cheers and thanks for all the help!! will be looking to get an annexe made too if anyone knows of someone with a sympathetic liking for these vans it would be much appreciated!
Thanks again, Colin

Hi Colin
That is certainly a sweet looking van. larrikinlarry from mohu is a worker of canvas miracles as well as a VV nutter ;D
If you haven't seen a Propert with an awning/annex, the sail track goes onto the rear bottom of the outer shell and when up, covers the inner shell. As well as an awning, I used the 30second Oztent as an annex on mine, taking the tent awning over the rear door. It worked reall well, apart from the fact that the Oztent is a bit bulky to take on trips.
Enjoys yours.
Ray
