Hi all,
I have been "lurking" on this forum for some time reading threads to help me find a van. I have finally enrolled in order to ask for help. I am not 100% sure this is the right spot but it was my best guess.
I want to buy a small fiberglass caravan. A 13' sunliner would do very nicely provided it had a double bed. The bed is the priority, something I can make comfortable for my partner who has a cronic illness.
I realise sunliners are getting rare and many that come up need a full renovation. For that reason I would be grateful for alternatives. I know about the murrumba and the smaller olympics. Small is good because the boss's falcon isn't as sturdy as it once was and a couple of years ago I bought a forester. The subaru will pull 600kg or so ok but once you get up over a ton it struggles (I've got a boat and a flat bed trailer).
We looked at avan weekender and teardrop type things but they move around a lot when your in them. That is still a possibility but it would be nice to get something a bit bigger.
I am in Brisbane. If anyone has something that might suit or sees something come up I would be very happy to hear from you.
Thank you for a great forum and thank you for reading.

Hey Damian Sunliners sound like your van of choice. Small aerodynamic and easy to tow. Small Olympics are a little harder to find (12 ' Style leader) The 14' Olympics come on the market regularly. Possibly a fold out camper ( Expanda Van) like Boblor's latest toy ;D ;D Just keep hunting on Gumtree, Ebay and Trading Post . They do turn up but you will have to be quick, cause they go fast. All the best on your hunt for a vintage van. Cheers Atog

Thank you for the replies.
I am not sure about price. I'll make that decision when I had a look at a van for sale I suppose. I like to see value and it's hard to see in new vans asking over $30k. I would just take time off work and build one before I paid that sort of money.
I am not interested in anything involving canvas. We have tried the tent, pop top pop out and pop every which way and it was not a success.
I am watching the online classifieds, but I thought if anyone had a van here for sale...
"boblor" has already kindly offered a lead which I will follow up.
My priorities are pretty straightforward:
No chemical smells inside.
Large comfortable double.
Not too much shake.
Not too heavy.
A kitchenette wold be a nice extra.
Narrower than 8' would also be nice. It was no problem with the wide falcon but I notice with my flat bed (which used to be a caravan) behind the subaru that I have to work to no overrun the lane lines.
Please understand I'm not on the computer every day just now. I have been off sick all this week.

Just spotted it, sent a question. It's about 1 1/2 hours from here and I won't be able to inspect it till next weekend. Depends on price and towing weight. Has the layout I want which is a big plus. Thank you for the heads up And again good luck with YOUR search...

I finally talked to the owner of the kennedy. Beds are too short and he has a weighbridge certificate indicating 1128 kg!!! Even if you could strip out a couple of hundred kilos that's still heavy.
So still looking.
