THanks David for your assistance. We actually hail from the little farther north of Rocky, Townsville if fact, beatiful one day, even better the next!!!!
Yep, we have adopted Alyvan from a rather elderly couple who had him for over 35 years after acquiring it through their family from an Aunt whose family had the van built in 1955 in order to travel to the 1956 Melbourne Olympics. Ken and June, as a young family had many a family hols in this van, no doubt making use of the internal bathtub on occasion. Their tow vehicle was the round nosed Ford Zephyr and covered ground from the Victoria inland to the steamy Darwin and around the central road when one-lane bitumn was a highway.
We are still summing up the way forward and a budget. Internally, easily salvagible with some elbow grease and new doors, windows and a lick of paint. Underside has the C-Channel A Frame with a slight crease, but it is enough for me to comtemplate redoing from the ground up with a new subrail and A frame. Just needing to work thorugh the QLD DMR issues with this one. Once sorted we would like to essentially return it to it's early condition and appearance with a few mods like A/C, and solar power. The real attraction to this van is that it has been under cover and the frame, skins and overall structure are quite sound even by modern standards, bare the C-Channel crease.

Hi Rose and Don
What a sweety. Love the bath under the back bed, if we can we're thinking of doing something similar in our new addition.
Cheers Des and Kel

Hi Rose and Don,
Welcome to the forum, as you've seen allready with Dosse putting up your pics, there are some pretty nice people here on this forum. Your van looks cute with its lovely goemetric lino, pretty blue sink, bath tub and pink laminex. All the lovely colours that worked so well in the 50's and 60's allready there awaiting your elbow grease. With your description of the outside it seems you're well on your way towards a usable, beautifull Vintage Van.
We wish you all the best and many joys on your restoration journey.
cheers retro64
