Picked up an old caravan magazine the other week and showed it to my Mrs. Got us excited about the idea of travelling with a vintage van around Australia. We decided to start looking for one thats ready to go. Small enough just for the two of us. Hope I've posted this in the correct place. Bob

Welcome to the forum - be warned - these old vans are addictive. Ask the "old codgers" on this forum how many vans they have. Barbara B

I'm located in country Victoria. Don't mind the old bondwoods. Had one as a kid. Cheers for the fast replies. - Bob

Olfart, great name pal. Got a long term back injury, so not able to do the handy things I once could so looking for one ready to hitch on and go. Wish I could, would love the reward of restoring one of the oldies. Great to hear everyone so happy to help. Wasn't sure how I'd go joining up. Not the most internet savvy. - Bob

Hi Bob, Not internet savvy? You seem to be doing fine with your posts. If you're looking for a van, there are a couple of things that might help you. One is the posts in the 'For Sale/Wanted' section of the forum - which you've already found. People advertise their vans pretty regularly in this section. The second is Ebay under something like 'Vintage Caravans' (or sometimes older vans are just listed under 'Caravans'). There are probably an average of 2 or 3 vintage caravans listed on Ebay in a given week. The third is to keep an eye on the classifieds in the new magazine which has just been started up by one of our members, Magicangelisa - Vintage Caravan Magazine. Finally, once you've checked out some of the caravans on the forum, you may begin to get an idea of what type of vans set you and the Mrs alight. You may find that you set your hopes on a particular brand and model, or you may find that you'd be happy with a caravan from any one of a number of brands and/or models and/or eras. Once you've got some ideas on that, you can let us know what you're thinking and other forum members may be able help you find something. To state the obvious, if you settle on a particular brand/model it is likely to take you longer to find something that you are happy with - particularly if you need something which is in pretty good condition to start with - than if you are less selective. Similarly if you have the ability to travel a bit (eg interstate) to pick a van up you will have more choice, and find something more quickly. Good luck with your search. I'm sure you'll get lots of help if you need it. Just ask. Don Ricardo
