Hi All Judy and I have just returned home following a week touring around northern Victoria in our teardrop and 56 Buick. We based ourselves at Tawonga Caravan Park and toured the area of Mt Beauty, Falls Creek, Bright, Beechworth. We took on the challenge of returning home to Canberra via Corryong and the Alpine Way and over Dead Horse Gap through Jindabyne and Cooma. The incentive for the trip was a gathering of Teardrop Campers at Tawonga. Our Camp at Tawonga Some of the nice autumn colurs View from the top of Falls Creek Looking down on the township of Tawonga with the caravan park behind on the river. Looking down on Mt Beauty township from the Tawaonga to Bright road. Some of the Teardrops The bush TV A friendly policeman at Corryong who just wanted to look at the car. Corryong, man from snowy river country Bush Camp at Geehi along the Alpine Way. Morning mists at Geehi, lots of ice too. The river at Geehi A stunning drive over the ranges not recommended for caravans but plenty doing it. Unfortunately our camera battery went flat at Geehi so we couldn't take any photos coming over Dead Horse gap. Ken n Judy

Hi All Tell your mate with the red teardrop and bay window we saw him pull into the rest stop in Myrtleford as we were on our way back to Bright from a day trip. We went out of our way to follow for a while, since it looked so unusual! Then not far down the road we saw LarryLarrikin1's Mayflower and Teardrop on a lawn and had a squiz. Hope you all had a fun time in the teardrops. Cheers Seeshell

Well done Ken & Judy.
I had a previous engagement to take the Sportsman to Tassie for Easter so I have missed out on another Teardrop Nationals. Maybe we will meet up at the next.

Hi "Mr Duckwithattitude", so great pics! Maybe we should have the VV nationals in the high country one year, enjoying that autumnal beauty.
With that bay window teardrop, what is that round thing on the forward section of the van? Looks a bit like some sort of air vent near where your head would lie.

Yes Clyde we seem to have been in the same part of the country, it is a shame that we did not meet up somewhere. Mt Beauty and that part of the High Country has been missed by us on other trips. Now that we have been there we will surely go back at some stage as there is lots to see and do. While you are down that way it would be nice if you could find the time to go through Kankoban to Geehi Camping Ground or Tom Groggin Camping Ground (along the Alpine Way) which is as close as you will get to the start of the Murray River, only toilets there but beatiful scenery and you can turn around before the big climb to Dead Horse Gap and Thredbo. And Ray that little round window on the red teardrop is a home made porthole that does not open. Quite ingenious what teardrop builders can stuff into a small area. I would have to agree that the High Country would be a great place to have some sort of VV gathering...........maybe the next nationals or just a long weekend away from the rat race. Bye the way, the Buick does not like standard unleaded when towing the van so I had no choice but to use premium, the most that I paid was $1.66.9 at khankoban. And this was the well deserved winner of the best homebuilt teardrop award. Ken
