Lovely time of year down south. The Autumn colours are always magnificent. Keep the photos coming Clyde, those of us that are stuck in work mode definitely appreciate the visual break Cheers Atog

G'day sutcac, You have to appreciate those Autumn leaves while they are still on the tree aye?...... because when they fall off somebody has to sweep 'em up .... doesn't matter, they put on a good show. The River Glade CP looks like a top spot too.... I've never been there Cobber.

G'day Sutcac and Barb, No need to apologise for getting carried away with the 'car in front of the tree' shots. They are fantastic pics. The colours are just wonderful. I love the Australian bush - driving through forests of tall eucalypts with tree ferns making up the understorey, the mallee scrub, the lushness of Queensland rain forests, etc. But gee, the colours of autumn are glorious aren't they? Keep them coming. Don Ricardo

Hi Clyde and Barb.. You could not have pickd a better time to head into the snowys. Tress look great. Dont hang around up there for too much longer . you might get snowed in..... Just had three days at Nundle on a bike rally.. coldest night was 2 degrees.... A lot of english tress are turning gold, red, yellow, purple... looks great. That park in tumut looks like a great little spot. Might be worth putting on the list for a "high country (east coast) Tour at some stage in the future Hope all is well with the rest of the intrepid travellers . If ya get a really cold night just make sure your radiator isnt frozen before you drive off.... have seen engines cook due to no water circulation through the frozen radiator... Thermostat opens .. water dont move out of the engine. Keep the happy snaps coming... loving it. Regards Reddo

Hey Clyde. If ya can find the time i reckon you should head up over Hotham .. across through Dinner Plains to Omeo. From there you head north and take a left and head towards Mitta Mitta to a little pub at Anglers Rest called "The Blue Duck" ....One of the oldsest continuely licensed pubs in Vic. My cousin owned the pub during the big fires that ripped through the snowys back around 2002. Him and his mate saved the pub with a diesel powered fire fighting water pump supplied by the bush fire brigade while they where retreating from the fire front. Beaut old pub with a camping ground down across the road.... unpowered. Its a wander you guys havent taken up panning for gold now that you are in the right sorta terittory.... Would be a real bugger to trip over something like "The hand of faith"or.. "the welcome stranger" nuggets. .... Come across something like that and ya coud buy Tally her own EH ute .. and gold encrusted collar Reddo

Hi Sutcac Looks like a fun time is being had by all on the trip through the Alpine. Bright sure is lovely this time of year. I'm sure it's probably been covered before - but what brand is your Fugly? I love the pop out sides. Are there pictures of your van in the members section? I'd like to read more about it - intriguing as the Cube! Can I ask a question to you and all the historians about the first van you jumped over the fence to see -- about what age would you estimate that homemade van to be (with the gas lamps)? Just interested to try and home in on the date of that stove - which is exactly like one I just purchased. Love the gas lights - and the complimentary wasps nests...is that a new vintage feature? Cheers Seeshell

Clyde, You don't know what you are missing up here in Brisbekistain. There is a kid looking for a pencil case, a father looking for a rugby jersey, a tuck shop lady unhappy because the milk delivery was incorrect, another kid crying because he doesn't have a nick-name like his best buddy "magic", an uncle that wants access to his nephew but there is a child protection order with the threat of an AVO, games for Saturday need a security guard in case the crowd gets out of hand, a reminder to parents that there is no alcohol to be consumed beside the rugby pitch (but a cheese and bread platter is OK), another kid needs emergency care for the weekend because we can't contact his parents and I am threated with legal action because " Johnnie" is in the "A's" for club, but the "B's" for school...all the while Julia is telling us how important NAPLAN is next week. Surely this is better than what you are currently doing? ?? Keep these pictures coming...it keeps me dreaming that there is a better life in 30 more years. HALPS & MRS HALPS...both on the FRONT LINES PS: I am now thinking...30 more years of this...KILL ME!

We reckoned on the gas light van to be a 50s' era SeeShell. Icebox and full timber flooring and chassis rails being the next best indicator I reckon Jennison

Hi Jennison Thanks for the info on the old handmade. I love the styling of the old vans. We've started with our fibreglass but I can see that its likely that we well ultimately end up with more. After all, what are these 11 acres for anyway? Besides, it lets me buy more beautiful bric-a-brac to kit out another rolling museum. Yay! Still looking for the member pages on Fugly - replica Fugly keeps coming up! Cheers Seeshell

Hi Seeshell, Re having more than one V V - that's the spirit! I think you need a V V from each decade so that you then have a reason to collect bric-a-brac for each era! What do you think? (Says he who only has one van! ) Re Fugly - looks like Sutcac has been particularly neglectful about putting together a photographic essay on Fugly for the Members' Photo Album section. Better report him to the discipline committee! As the Queen of Hearts said in Alice's Adventures in Wonderland: "Off with his head"! Anyway check out this thread which shows the van soon after Sutcac and Barb bought it, and includes some of the van's history. There are also some more pics here - see Reply #4. If you check out Sutcac's various posts you will note that Fugly has had numerous colour changes to suit the colour of its various tow cars, not to mention some "imaginative" signs on the back panel to amuse those following. Guess that's enough reason to let Sutcac keep his head after all! ;D ;D ;D Don Ricardo

Hi Don Thanks for the links - isn't that Fugly an ingenious design. It's rather a pity that only 5 were built! Great work on the arrangements for the Nationals too and on just about filling up the caravan park in Cowra - with a year still to go! All the van maddies will definitely will need spill over space in council reserves or another park. It certainly will be a sight. There'd have to be a year's worth of Vintage Caravan magazine content in that event. Cheers Seeshell
