Hello all......New to this forum, although have been loitering for some time. Trying to work out the original paint scheme for our bondy. Have scraped back the silver frosted rims to reveal red. Would this be right? Was it common practice to paint the wheels such a dramatic contrast in the 1950/60's? Does anyone have pictures to give me an idea how this would look? Thanks in advance......Scot

Hi Scot, do you have a model name? Year? Any more info? Photos!

I took off a main vent to try and obtain access to the back of the fridge as it did not work....and found the original colour to the van was underneath the vent around the cutout! After taking off the spare & wire brushing back.... the rim was in it's original colour... dark grey...did not really fit with the orig colour scheme but certainly wasn't red! However, do you mean the overall colour scheme of van or just the rims? J

We have had no problems matching the original colours of the van itself however when we sanded back the rims they appear to of been red, we are not sure if this was a rust inhibiting undercoat or the original rim colour. The red is quite bright. I was enquiring whether it was common practice to paint the wheels of caravans from this era with such a dramatic colour contrast.

Hi Scot and welcome to the forum, can't have you continuing to loiter in the background, what would the neighbours say!
As surfingyogini said, it would help if you could give us a bit of info on the van itself, and the era it came from. At least it will give us a starting point for discussion.
Cheers
Ray
