JONDI should have an idea on the Moonie caps but I'll have a look at Redcliffe Swap tomorrow (dependent on rain) or Ormiston Swap is next weekend. That is a big one. There was a place at Slacks creek that was into the Moonie caps and bullet wheel nuts etc but a few hot rod guys who do the swap meets have them.
I can get 185/80x13 white walls at present but if you are after white flappers then talk to me first as there are a few technical issues with using them. You can get flappers from Brian at Vintage Tyre Sales at Bribie Island or ebay or Antique Tyres in melbourne. Give me a call 0417 620877 before you do anything. Rollydog

Gday there John & Di I wanted white walls on the mini rod so I chased up some tyre paint, I'd tried everything else I could think of, but this stuff seems to work alright. I guess gravel rash from gutters and the like would pull it off but I've had no real hassles with the mini rod. Here's the link that I found it on: rockabillyaustralia.forummotion.com/t275-white-wall-tyre-kits, Flappers would probably be the go if you can find some, talk to rollydog about the good ones as I've seen a number of them come unstuck with the bead of the flapper still seated in the rim. As for your moonies - the dollars good with the green back, try the source - Mooneyes in California. Rocket and other places in Oz would do them too. See you at easter,

If the flappers are going on your caravan ensure you have light truck tyres fitted and you will need tubes. The flappers are ok on cross ply tyres and light truck tyres that have a stiff side wall that doesn't flex too much but you still have to watch them and they must be fitted carefully and properly !!!! I tried them on my Hillman but the radial tyres flex too much on the side wall so they start rubbing through the side of the tyre. We do use them though on the Princess Van Den Plas Limos because we run 16 inch light truck four wheel drive tyres pumped right up so not much sidewall flex there. These has been talk of using rubber grease behind them to allow a bit of movement without scraping the tyre. I am not in favour of some methods of applying side wall paint as they scrape the side of the tyre plus you cannot do it to tyres under twelve months old as the oil is still leaching from the tyre which affects the paint. The tyres I sell are factory made white walls so permanently put on the tyre when manufactured. Call me if you have any queries as I am based on the northside of brisbane. Rollydog
