Hi All,
just would like to thank the forum for giving us the ideas and knowledge of what to do to give the old caravan a new life. We had our first holiday in burrum heads queensland and is was a great experience.

Hi Supremm
A little beauty of a van - I hope our Olympic turns out as beautifully as yours did.
Was it originally one of the blue ones?
Cheers Seeshell

Hi Seeshell, We found it as is, in the first photo, two tone with green house paint on bottom half. It was also covered in a thick mission brown on the roof to cover cracks....at least we think thats why. It was like tar and awful to get off. We decided to paint her in an insulation paint made for caravans. When the paint arrived in an odd shade of cream, the misses didn't love it so we added colour. It turned out duck egg blue and we love it. The only original coloured one is Boblors' aqua one. All others are white/cream as far as we know. We are hoping for a visit from Boblor next time he is in town. We would love a chat in person and for him to see what we have done with the old wreck. She was in a terrible state....we arn't professionals in any area of renovation, but we did what we could with the little money we had. We have named her "Flo" and she fits our little family perfectly - rough around the edges but comfortable.

Hi Rod, Could you explain what is on in may and when and where please. We Are new to this. Thanks steve Hi Supermm, I'm not a Queenslander, just a helpful Victorian, but I think Rodnet is referring to the Maroochy in May event which you will find by clicking here. The SEQ vintage vanners have regular outings which you can read about in the Vintage Caravan Runs and Events section of the forum. The SEQ crowd always remind me of the Bundaberg Rum polar bears: "Them bears sure know how to have a good time" ;D ;D ;D And good on them too! Don Ricardo

Hi Supremm,
welcome to the forum, your Debonair 1520 looks just beautifull, the duck egg blue is a pretty colour on your van along with the blue cupboard doors. As long as "flo" meets your needs, and you and your family get pleasure from using her it doesnt matter how big or small your budget was to get her up and running. If your budget was small it just means that you were resourseful and put some thought and love into your restoration.
Hope to meet you at the Mingle in May at Maroochydore,
Cheers retro64
