Copthis
Sports Minor's first un-offical outing to the Dandenong Valley Historic Car Club's 2010 xmas party at Nar Nar Goon.
Even though the teardrop was not completely finished it attracted a lot of attention.
I had trouble getting my 16 year old daughter out.
Teardrop annex is stored in the blue bag. All poles, ropes, power leads, lights etc are in a full length
lockable outside entry cupboard.
Teardrop Tare Weight is only 270 kg. The Model A with its 23 hp engine has no trouble towing it.
The pull out centre shelf is my idea, not exactly original but a good platform for the ipod, glass of
wine or the digital TV whilst lying in bed. Not bad for breakfast in bed when I can get the wife motivated.
The shelf can be pulled out as much as 14".
No, the ipod is mine. I have 15,000 tunes and radio programs dating back to the 30's, 40's and 50's on it.
Sometimes I will display a 1930's valve radio playing 1930's radio programs.
This usually has most people confused, asking what radio station this is.
The radio station is mine, from a mini AM transmitter located in my car (Tx is only about 150 mw).
Hours of Dad & Dave, Blue Hills and Mrs Oggs.
When found this little teardrop was used as a childs cubby house for nearly 30 years in a Rowville
(Victoria) backyard. It was full of wood rot and required a total rebuild.
The rebuild was an exact copy of the original, by laying the sides of the old teardrop on the floor
a new teardrop side was constructed on top of the old as a template. Everything fitted back together perfectly.
A friend gave me this picture. The Daylesford Primary School is in the back ground. I can't be the only
one that has a Sports Minor, although I have no idea who owns the coupe or the van.
More photos of the restoration to come.
Would love to hear from other Sports Minor or Safetee Minor Teardrop owners or am I the only one?
Regards
Stan
