Hi All
I’ve been asked by a few people about where I sourced my caravan lights from. People have been very generous with their time, and I’m only happy to share the few things I’ve dug up on my project. I’ll say right now (for any moderators who are cruising around!) I’m not endorsing or promoting any vendors – just responding to quite a few requests for info. I LOVE rules. RULES are GREAT!
BEEHIVES and EYEBROWS[glow=red,2,300][/glow]
These are pictures of the beehive lights I bought, and their corresponding chrome bezels.
LOCAL options: You can get good assemblies here in Australia – the more interesting stock is not from the local caravan supplier which seems to be aimed at more recent vans. Truck Part Suppliers (whoever is local to you) can source some very interesting and beautiful lights from the Narva and Hella catalogues – they all seem to be for big rigs.
ONLINE options: Alternatively you can turn to the internet – as I did. There is a supplier Closertowholesale who operates from the USA and offered excellent service and price. The full assembly I bought above (sealed LED light, seal, pigtail, eyebrowed plastic chromed bezel) cost about $10 – the Aussie dollar is going one for one with the US dollar at the moment. Shipping was cheap.
EYEBROW STOP TURN TAIL LIGHTS[glow=red,2,300][/glow]
In searching out my side lights, I did find a matching EYEBROW stop turn tail light that would go well with the ones above for older vans. They are not beehive style though.
I’m a bit more familiar with vans from the USA – just getting to know the local brands here as I begin my project! The lights are modern replicas of stop/turn/tail lights from Shasta, Scotty and other vans of the same period in the USA. While they are not beehive they do look nice as a set with the ones above, are very appropriate and attractive, and might be right for your trailer. Here are some pictures for you to make your own judgements.
They can be sourced from a seller on the US version of E(vil)Bay called thevelcrostrip. There may be others as well who offer similar products.
Let there be light!
