What with the weather warming up again, Rainbow Beach sounds pretty good, so we've booked in for Thurs, Frid & Sat nites.
Really looking forward to it!

Hi all. Looks as thought we are going to have wonderful weather. We were wondering, how about we do a outdoor movie night?. We can bring the required goods, but thought if you had a vintage film which you felt others would be interested in we could do a vote on the night and pick one or two?. Beach, outdoor movie, munchies, and friends what else do you need. (The movie will have to be on a USB and we can choose on the weekend so we don't clutter the site, bring your own munchies, and blankets etc. What do you all think?. If your not really interested we will leave everything at home, less to pack, just a thoughty. Cheers Des and Kel

Movie night sounds like a great idea, but we are unable to commit to anything. John's sister and her family are staying with us for the weekend. Invited them to come camping, but they have chosen to stay in a unit at Rainbow, so we will have to play it by ear as to what we do on Saturday night. They are flying in on Friday night, so I will bring the teardrop up on Friday afternoon and set up and John will travel up with them on Saturday.

Hi all, Am sooooooooooooo looking forward to having a break. Des & Kel, movie night sounds great, but sorry I don't have any old movies that are on USB. Bob & Jacqui good question. I would think that if we are going to do the movie night on the Friday, then no doubt that will be the best night for a (pre movie) bbq as we will already be at the park. So Saturday at a pub/rsl etc etc would be good, (a night off from cooking always sounds good). Stephen & Julie. Thanks for offering to scout out the bbqs and local venue situation. As you are there early, can you also please check with the park if any of the local venues have a courtesy bus that picks up from the park, thanks? . We can always partake in a drink or three if we don't have to drive ;D ;D ;D Looking forward to catching up with you all. Luv Di xx

Hi all, the beauty of this park is that it is in town, behind the Pub and across the road from the Surf Club. BBQ facilities are located right near where we all are camping. (Well when l spoke to them months ago they were going to pop us all together as much as possible).
NOTE TO ALL: We have just spent a couple of days at a park a few KM's aways and got eaten alive, we didn't have this problem when we went in Feb however would recommend bringing some repellant. There is a general store at Rainbow as well.
See you all soon Cheers Des and Kel

Hi all the movie night sounds great Des & Kel, anyone come up with a feature film yet? Many moons ago I used to go to a film buffs group that was run by a train nut so every film had a train in it somewhere! I've been dredging thru the brain cells to recall any films with caravans in them, especially vintage films but can't think of any apart from La Strada with the guy & girl living in the tiny caravan attached on the back of the small motorbike which the guy drove about with her in the caravan. Maybe it's too hard to film inside caravans?
What about getting a group pizza order delivered to C/park the same night we have the film & do a Barbie the other night? So that may depend on Stephen & Julie finding a close by pizza joint who delivers. guess it's hard to please everyone! sounds like we could all go to the pub or surf club for a meal & walk/stagger back to Cpark later. It's all good... So leave it up to stevenjulie to do the research on this one!

Hey Cathie - I don't have it but I remember a Lucielle Ball movie with a van in it where she was in the back while driving along supposedly cooking dinner! Can't remember too much of it I must of been pretty young - and it was probably a repeat then too!! ;D Cheers Doug

Brilliant Doug & crown115!
I can just imagine Lucy fluffing about in the caravan kitchen with apron on! Perhaps later re-runs could have johnny cash/king of the road singing about his trailer for sale or rent etc

Hi Smiles, Wrong singer, but good thoughts. Roger Miller did the best known version of that song. I've never came across a version by Johnny Cash. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D JBJ

Hi All,
Lisa also mentioned The Long Long Trailer back on Page 3.
I don't think that I have ever seen it the whole way through, but the bits I saw were good.
I do have The Long Long Trailer on disk, but not on USB, so I will bring the disk along just incase. But Des & Kel have asked for a movie on USB, so if anyone has anything else that would be great.

Dennis, yes you're right it was Roger Miller, not Johhny Cash. Sounds like you're "back on track" & downright dangerous again!
Speaking of dangerous, tomorrow we're being evicted from the Agnes Water Beach Caravan park. We came here for 4 days on the way from Woodgate (great little shady dog-friendly park opposite lovely beach) to the get-together at Rainbow Beach. After putting the van & annex up on the lovely grassy beachside site booked in August, the manager here at Agnes got very snooty, insisting that all vans have "to open on the left, with the annex on the right". When we tried to 'nicely' egercate her about how 1965 Properts (indeed all Properts) open at the back, and 'our annex is at the back & side' & we had twirled the Propert around on the slab 'to suit the site'. NO she said, all vans MUST park on the left of the slab, with annex on the slab. Half hearted concessions by us to pull down the annex & re-twitch the Propert closest to her Hitlerian view of the world fell on deaf ears. Anyway she said, I've got another booking for this site, so here's a refund!
Anyway will wait till tomorrow to tell Dear Fuhrur( when we get the key deposit back) that I'm planning to make it my life's work (at least for a day or so) to put negative feedback into every possible website about Agnes Water Beach Caravan Park.
Cathie, Rob (who stubbed his toe on the aforesaid concrete slab while setting up annex & is now bleeding on Propert floor) & Scud (who takes it all in her stride)
