Well here is my vv...not quite complete...in a difficult position to take a proper side on shot. Will when we move her for rego soon....The original col of van was a flesh colour (pinkish beige) with an olive green one stripe down sides! May do these col’s when she needs a new coat...the inside was buff yellow, bright green, pink & cream with yellow/grey tiles. The laminate has all been changed by prev. Owner which is a shame just had to work with what was there................looking for old laminate table red/grey to replace it all!
The wheel arch has been highlighted with this mottled alum and follows the arch....
Before shot to refresh your memories.....................
And now she looks like this.........
Al...you were correct....scrub, scrub, scrub....4 days later, blackened fingers, sore muscles & a big smile! The alum was painted with silver frost, then coated with a laquer & lots of grease etc. I used everything I could lay my hands on & eventually used paint stripper & 2 packs of soapy jex. Sol was good as a final polish.....A little dent here and there adds to the character.....and yes...that is a chrome rod the prev. Owner put in am assuming to hold the sliding shelf (that does go over stove) a TV as there is an antenna pt & power pts above! “The boy” says it stays as he is a motorsport/motorbike grand prix watcher!
You can see the original lift up storage which is now under the bed frame....bit tricky to get too but could be handy. The name COULTON is written in large letters in grey lead pencil under lid. The near on full length mirror has “gabby” inscribed at top...so the name stays.. I decided to add sassy...”sassy gabby”. And yes....the prev owner put in a few mod cons...the rear window (was broken apparently) may replace to the original oval shape one day....the ugly light fitting (about to be replaced!....and set of speakers which when removed leaves whopping holes so they stay unfortunately cause I am NOT a carpenter! The fan...welll...have my eye on a little retro model....removed a big heavy ugly laminated shelf from front of rear window which has opened it all up....why? why? Why?
I have not posted a pic of dining area as am awaiting new cushions etc....have to leave something to take a shot of when finally finished............................................pretty close though......
The chassis number I found after looking, looking for simply ages.....after taking the spare wheel off to start wire brushing down the chassis, there it was, it was hidden from view....guess I was looking in all the wrong places!
Anywho...that’s it for the mo....when it is completed...I will post some more shots...till then thanks for taking the time to look & a huge thanks to those of you who have helped me out with questions that I had whilst doing this reno...I know you must tire of inane questions but without your knowledge novices like me would still be literally scratching our heads! So thanks a trillion! Cheers J
