Hi All Well... theres another year of great events and good times done with. Time to start thinking about what we wanna do here in NSW during 2011 ?? There is Motorfest on australia Day Nelligen on in Feb. Bit of a gap to Munmorah in May .. weekend after Mothers Day... or do we want to move it forward or backward?? I sent a xmas greeting to Val at Katoomba Van Park. They have moved out of the park and are now at wentworth falls?? There wa talk of moving over to Blackheath for 2011.. i am easy.. happy to go anywhere down that way... The Kaybees stayed at Camden Park on the way to this years tour. Maybe we could have Christmas in July down off the mount. ?? Not sayin dont have it at katoomba... just sending out feelers The East Coast Tour will be starting down around Bega .. or Eden this year, same weekend as always.. weekend before Coledale. There was talk of the Vic crew organising a tour 2 weeks before Coledale and hooking up with the NSW tour at Bega/Eden... Plenty of time to sort things out there. So...... whats on your mind?? Get your finger out and have a say.....All ideas gladly recieved and can be mulled over well in advance here on this thread.. or maybe the mods will move it somewhere else?? . Looking forward to another great year out and about with the vans and the lovely people that inhabit them ;D ;D ;D Cheers all The Reddos.

Whatsdamatter??.. Cat got your tongue.... No suggestions Okey dokey. Here is a spot that might be worth a Vintage van weekend away . Town is called East Gresford. Has a beaut little camping ground down behind the showground.... and about 300 yards from a great old pub that serves up great lunches and dinner.... Oh yeah the Bowling club is only 250 metres up at the entrance to the road to the camping ground...Ice $2 a bag No caretaker on site at the camping ground. Old Bert calls in each morning and arvo to collect the fees. Clean the toilets etc. $10.. unpowered $15.00 powered site. About 8 poles with 2 outlets on each.... Small ammenities block with 3 showers in either side wash rooms ... . Hot showers are $1.00 .. and seem to last for ages. Just spent boxing day evening up there with son Luke, his partner Sarah and the grandaughter Hannah... Large concrete pits for open fires and.. a few steps down to the creek after a gate that warns you of shallow water and deep water.... council aint taking any risks... Rope tied to the tree for the brave to swing on.. Couple of massive African Oaks for a shady campsite out of the heat. The bike club have a rally here each year in February. It can be 40 deg out in the sun and 28 under the trees.... All in all a tidy little spot that hasnt been opverun by yobbos. had a top night. bit of drizzle early so me and the grandaughter played "Guess Who"( its a board game) until she was ready for bed. We batted on until around 11.00 when the esky hit rock bottom . All in all a top couple of days/ 1 night away. If anyone is keen .... I dont think they take bookings . It would just be a case of rock up friday arvo and save as many sites as we can for those arriving later. There is a mile of camping spots.. Its just the powered sites that might get snapped up early on the weekends. So if this spot appeals to you and ya would like to come up/down/ sideways for a weekend then throw up a few dates and we will se what comes of that. Your roving raving ranting reporter Reddo

Hi Banno I am sure they ( the rest of NSW ) will come out of hiding shortly and inject a few ideas for 2011. Newcastle is one about 1 and half hours drive north of the sydney CBD. .. and Woolomgong is only about an hour or 2 south of Sydney. Dunno wether its just my way of thinking.. or my love of towing but i feel that a 4 hour run in any direction is an easy task on a friday arvo for a weekend away. There is a hell of a lot of coastal camping / caravan parks in that range. Plus a lot of national parks and forestry campsites as well. Just have to be patient and see what happens during the year. As for coming up for QLD getogethers.. I am not as "free range "as i was a few years ago when i worked on the council and had hundreds of hours long service and annual leave to burn. I have attended a van weekend at Esk back in 2006 . Plus i managed Wintersun 2007 with the TD and EK Ute....while my house was being flooded.back in Newy .. The last time i was up was for a V. Van week at Maroochydore back in 2008. All great events with good weather. Managed to catch up with a lot of the QLD crew. Would have come up to Lennox Head this year except i have a V.Van and Hotrod weekend already booked for the following weekend at Nelligen near Batemans Bay .. woo.. Whoooo. First van trip away for the new year... cant wait. ;D Reddo

we are up to a meet anywhere between wollongong and newcastle or 500 k rad from orange. how about a calender page with a chalkboard you can post on if you are going to attend so we have an idea of possible numbers. We have a 1956 carapark hunter junior, rebuilt and internally modernized to show off, and like fishing so seasides are best for us. we will do a thing on the restoration when we reescue the pics from our dead PC Bye for now, John and Jackie

Gresford looks good to us I am sure that Masso & Fuzzy will come as well. What about a weekend at Forster or Stockton Caravan Park beach & ferry into Newcastle as well. Patonga at the Centra Coast is good as well, you can catch a ferry to Palm Beach they also have great fish & chips there. All thes places are better if it is not a holiday weekend. Mustangpall

Hi All Thanks for the replies and thoughts on other runs and events for this year. Hows the following sound.. Nelligen Feb 11, 12 , 13.. ( already booked in ) Gresford camping reserve - March 18, 19, 20 Blackheath Caravan Park - May20, 21, 22.... This is normally the Munmorah weekend . I thought we could slip up the mountains earlier and avoid the cold. Also moved from Katoomba as the Caretakers have moved out. Not sure what the new caretakers might be like and there was some mention of a change at last years Christmas in July. Also considered the poor camp kitchen facilitys and distance to the toilets when partying in that little shed.... Munmorah - July 1, 2, 3 This is normally Katoomba .. Reason for change is we have better facilitys at Munmorah in the camp kitchen for Christamas in July Toilets are a lot closer , as well as being able to have a campfire. If it rains we have a bigger sheltered area which can be "Tarped off" to keep out the elements. Patonga Caravan Park - Aug-26,27, 28. If we leave this till sept then then the site rates increase from $19 a powered site to $28 A bit over a month before Coledale but an opportunity to dust things off and enjoy the spring weather near the water.http://www.gosford.nsw.gov.au/recreation/patonga.html East Coast Spring Tour.... - "Bega - October 8 to '' Arrive at Coledale Friday 14. Coledale - October 14, 15, 16 Geoff and Jude normally organise a weekend at Kendalls beach a few weeks after Coledale .. early November??? Also have had the van park out at Windsor on the river in the back of my head for a van weekend away for a while now??. Pity they shut Colo river park down Maurie i am trying to find out when Hawks nest motorfest is on . we can make that another event if anyone wants to miss one of the other weekends and head up there instead / or.. as well. I have a feeling its around march or April.. stay tuned mate. Add to this All Holden Day weekend. Broke Fair, Cessnock Swap. The Tickos organise a weekend at Mudgee for the Wings, and Wheels festival.... plenty of opportunitys to tow and go. Question was asked is there any vintage vanners in the Orange district... Sorry i cant answer that one.. someone else might know??? Open to suggestions and change .. abuse if necessary. Your thoughts guys. Lets get it sorted early so we can look forward to some great weekends away using our vans this year. Reddo

How about the new Wintersun??? Its in Port Macquarie and runs around 10th and 11th of June - this clashes with Coolie Rocks On of course but may be a good option for those not wanting to travel so far and / or go somewhere a bit different. We booked a unit last year but we haven't quite made up our mind if we still want that, or take the van down there, or just go to Coolie Rocks On ...
Cheers, Doug n Tracy.

SOUNDS GOOD , SIX WEEKENDS AWAY AND THE EAST COAST TOUR AS WELL AS ALL THE OTHER "BITS'N'PIECES" WE GET UP TO , SHOULD FILL UP THE YEAR NICELY . I LIKE THE SWITCH WITH THE MUNMORAH/BLACKHEATH WEEKENDS ALSO , PROBABLE WORK OUT FINE , ESPECIALLY WITH THE WEATHER CONDITIONS . DONT WORRY ABOUT THE MOTORFEST AT HAWKS NEST IT MIGHT BUMP INTO THE GRESFORD W/E . MAYBE WE SHOULD SCHEDULE IT FOR NEXT YEAR 2012 . APART FROM NELLIGEN AND THE EAST COAST TOUR , I AM ALL OVER THESE EVENTS , COUNT ME IN , SOUNDS LIKE A LOTA FUN ALL WITHIN 3-5 HOURS DRIVE FOR MOST OF US . LOCK IT IN REDDO ! REGARDS , 8-)MAURIE

Hi All
I have a vintage caravan 1968 10'x6' and live 50kms from Orange. A suggestion for that area is Wellington Caves Caravan Park. They have a very large camping area, lots of powered sites, a fabulous and well set up camp kitchen, the caves as an attraction, adjoining golf course, and only a few kms out from Wellinton itself. Its an easy 100 kms from Orange and about 300 kms from Sydney. They also have a kiosk which does very nice simple meals and snacks. Gypsy2

Hi NSW Patonga camping reserve is council ran and as such is a pretty basic park. No sealed roads. No camp kitchen that i could see. However it is a great spot with the beach on one side and the creek winding its way around behind you. Plenty of powered sites .. so we should be able to get in one area as a group. The town itself has bugger all in the way of services. No shops that i could see. Just a big pub where you could buy a meal at night if you wanted to avoid cooking . The van park was chockers full of campers when i visited. tent ropes and annexe ropes criss crosing in all directions... boogie boards, pushbikes, fishing rods, 12 ft tinnies littering the streets... really popular spot with what i suspect is Sydneyites. However... August will probably be a lot quieter. It is about 8K from Umina via a twisty uphill... then downhill roiad through the Brisbane waters national park. In stark contrast Umina Beach has a Big 4 van park... really flash set up. Skatepark and BMX track ... for those of us that feel like a bit of cardio vascular exercise.... Premium powered sites with foxtel Powered sites with double slabs Grassed powered site Powered sites with ensuites .. Do ya want fries with that.... I spoke with Theres the group booking liason officer. She said there would be a discount for group bookings if we get it organised early.. prob about $35 for a powered site if yas wanna go here. Heaps of shops, eaterys etc for those that like to get amongst that sort stuff?? Asstated its only 10 mins from patonga if anyone wanted to head out for an evening meal. Choice is yours. Plenty to do and see back at Patonga camp.. swim, fish , take a stroll around the streets.. i did see one antique shop... but if it aint open midday sunday when i was there... it aint gunna be open anytime.. Would be a nice drive up around Ettalong/ terrigal etc if anyone wanted to go cruisin. Anyway... i have done my bit... i am keen . Is anyone else?? Can change date or head to Umina if yas wanna??? Can start a seperate thread if ya wanna lift "patonga Beach"out from under NSW runs and events 2011... If yas wanna, Hope to hear from someone else soon . Otherwise i will just assume everyone is happy with the status quo as it was last year. Reddo

Hi Reddo,
Patonga looks good to me, gives us time to put in for time off work (it takes my husbands work 8 months to approve a day off).
PS And yes I would like fries & coke with that, thanks.

Dogs.. Hi Humps.. Not sure . Try the phone number in the link to the council etc. ask em.. If they so no then i guess ya wont be there. Ya could always dress Lilly D fang up and say she is your ugly relative or. I can still offer the Reddotel Maltese terrier conversion kit ..and stick a piece of cane up its rear end .. make it into a dogduster to hang in your van. Can ya get back to us and let us know what they say. I am almost cert that the posh/trendy/5 star Umina park wont allow pooches. Seriuosly though mate... i reckon ya could take a dozen crocodiles down there for a weekend away and the council wouldn,t come near the place.. Its pretty low key .. outta the way...laid back sorta park. Reddo Hi again Pete.. i modified this post Thurs lunch time to include the following... Just where i took the photo looking up the beach towards the jetty and pub there is a sign that says.. Dogs off leash ( north of sign ) dogs on leash ( south of sign towards van park etc). There is a good chance that dogs are allowed in the park on leashes at all times Reddo

Munmorah - July 1, 2, 3 This is normally Katoomba ... hi reddo just my thoughts, but we still haven't experienced any snow on our 'christmas in july run" yet, so why not stay in the mountains and go to Blackheath Caravan Park in july and keep the munmorah run in may. i've always wanted to build a snowman. geoff 'n jude

Hi Geoff and Jude. I am mhearing what you are saying about Xmas in July. Some of those who have already replied seemed to think the weekend shuffle was a good idea.. However.. Seeing as though you are in your senior years and have never built a snowman i propose that we leave the weekend up the mountains as was last year...... On one condition.. if there is no snow we can lash you to a pole ... pretend you are a snowman.....and .....pelt tomatoes and other squishy stuff at you ;D. Perhaps its time to seperate the runs out into their own headings. Gresford is the next major event after the posers parade off at Motorfest. Pencil in March 18, 19, 20. Regards Reddo

Hi Reddo Hope you run for a NSW seat in Parliament in March.... I know lots of people who would vote for you and your organisational skills!!! We know that we will be present at Gresford, along with Mustangpal and Fuzzy. We are also aiming to get to all the other outings mentioned above. Regards, Massos. PS. By the way ...what is the official voting date in March?
