Hi Alf, We are so inspired by the meticulus restoration of your sunliner, and today we finally bought our own sunliner 'renovators delight' after a year of looking. I'm not sure that my handyman skills are up to your standard but we're going to give it a go! Your renos look excellent. What do you plan to paint the outside with and will you spray it yourself under your carport?

Hi Alf,
You're putting it together well.
I put a big 2400 watt invertor into my wiring in my ply van "Lucille", & it will run a 240v fridge & microwave off the one battery I have.
Its a thought seeing you are doing it properly.

billy tribe you can do it lots of bog and sanding . ill paint the outside with high build primer then a two pack polyurathane top coat and yes ill paint it at home just have to wait for a calm day jbj thinking about an inverter but as everything in the van runs off 12 volt i dont realy need to at the moment ive also got an anderson plug to the tow vehicle which charges the batteries when were tugging along... well im off to kowanyama for a week now so renno free for a while ...

humpty 2 yes it is a two pack polyurathane exterior made by jotun the only draw back is a five hour tack up time so when the wind comes so does the dust anti skid paint work yeha i got it on the second coat though . I started spraying the outside today two coats of high build now to sand it all off again cough cough hopefully ill get a coat of poly on it this afternoon.....

So do you need a pressurised suit with air-feed to spray this stuff or will just a mask do? What about spray drift? Looks good...........

hey humpty you should wear a good quality gas mask and long sleves my hair looks even greyer now and yes you do get a bit of spray drift. just keep the pressure on the gun down a little and put three or four thin coats on instead of two heavy. the good thing is you only have to wait about 40 muinets between coats just long enough for it to tack up. if you apply it too thick it will run for sure. the product is used in the marine and auto sector so is very durable . the more coats the longer the paint will last ....

Hi Alf,
What a determined and dedicated effort on your part!To think that your little Sunny could have still been sitting there wasting away in the Gulf but for your saving it!!
If it could speak we bet it would say thankyou.
The whole resto looks FABULOUS and is a credit to you and yours. We hope that when we get around to painting the outside of our Sunny it looks half as good.
Cheers retro64

well im back from the first trip. very eventfull too went down as far as the gold coast. visited noosa , agnes waters and seventeen seventy , tannem sands , clair view and a few others . we got stuck a few times and had to dodge a lot of pot holes but we were very lucky........ unlike some ....... i got a little tipsy at the service station south of gympie waiting for the river to fall, got through then it closed for the next five days all in all we had a lot of luck and a great time. the van went realy well and we all love it . thanks everyone for your nice comments on my restorations its not original but it suits us down to a tee, even if a little cramped at times with the four of us. my wife snores ... alf
