I know this might seem like a silly question to some of you "seasoned" vintage vanners. However to a novice like the HALPS this has become a real topic for dinner conversation... Question... When storing my vintage van in Brisbane (in a carport that offers excellent coverage), should I leave a window open to allow for air circulation? We have just returned from another trip in the van and noticed that a couple of the items that we stored in the van had some mildew spots...I had previously stored it with all the windows/doors/roof vents closed. I don't store anything that is damp. Could it be the humidity in Brisvagas? Any advice accepted. HALPS

adding to that even here in the southern parts I always leave the roof vent gapped and a window slightly open to alow flow through cheers Pete

Hi Halps Because we live in the tropics, mould is an issue. If it is a nice clear day we leave the hatch, door and the windows open to have as much breeze as possible go through.
So leaving at least a couple of windows and the hatch open will give you the ventilation you want.
Having said that ..... mould will still find it's way into the van.
Cheers Atog

My Td is stored under a carport with limited ventilation thru front window. No sign of mildew anywhere including an old canvas tent stored inside. You`re lucky you don`t live in Innisfail. Mate is constantly cleaning anything & everything. And ridding his house of geckos. Nice area but geez, there`s more to life. cheers gordon

I have a window open, and have placed bags of damp rid in each storage area (under the seating). The storage bags I use are the type that they use in shipping containers. I'm lucky because work has shipping containers with these in, so every time a container is delivered, I just replace my old old ones with the old one! ( or new for me)
