We've been invited again to the Avondale Harvest Festival in Beverley this coming November. the link to last year's show: vintagecaravans.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=runevent1&action=display&thread=5399Hi Mark Following up on our telephone conversation earlier....we would like to invite the Vintage Caravan Club to join us again for the annual Avondale Harvest Festival to be held at Avondale Discovery Farm, Beverley on Sunday 21 Nov 2010. The day runs from 10am to 4pm, however, your members would be welcome to camp over the night before. The vintage caravans attracted a huge amount of attention last year, and certainly your display was a credit to the members. We hope you will be able to participate in the 2010 Avondale Harvest Festival. I have attached a flyer that highlights some of the activities that happen on the day. The DL promotional flyer will be available soon. Look forward to hearing from you Cheers Dina As the email says, vintage vanners can camp at the venue the night before the show, so ........ as we did last year, we can set up our display on the Saturday afternoon. Please use this thread to register your interest, so that I can get back to Dina with approx Nos. Mark

G'day Mark.... Unfortunately this event clashes with GM Day at Bassendean Oval and the Bridgetown Show Because of these events, I'll have to count Avondale out. Daggsey

OK count us in as well. Fed up with weeding, firebreaks, missed the grand tour, still weeding & working on firebreaks! The whole point of getting this property was to get Wanda in a nice shed & work on her/him - it hasn't happened & probably won't for a couple of years. So Wanda is just going to get used & enjoyed. Doesn't rain over here so leaks are no concern, she looks a little red dusty on the outside from Quindanning, but it seems to be getting dustier by the day, so what is a little more red dust. Also visited the British Car day at Waroona yesterday (Sunday) & what a great day it was, the VV movement was well represented by "bubbles" : We did not even know about this event except it was advertised in the local Saturday West Australian TV guide!!! A great turnout of one VV - good on you bubbles. There were some great cars & for the fiberglass fraternity & if I ever get a Sunliner or such then this is the only tow car: Mmmmm a Jensen CV8, with a nice little Chrysler V8 & yes a fibreglass body. 1964 & a beaut. Series one Land rovers just back from a monumental journey halfway around Oz. Not into roughing it then how about these nice Rovers 1960's 3 ltr & 3.5 ltr V8's (P5) nicer On the way home I came across a Tractor museum in Surpentine, what a great find, just a couple of pic's to get the general idea & should be a reflection of the Avondale festival: General view Old McDonald had a farm - and a Tractor ;D ;D Wanda's mate old grey fergie just like me - old and grey. Good looking eh Cheers Jodel, Janet & the dog.

Just a slight correction to an earlier post of mine The GM day in Perth is indeed the 21st November......... The Bridgetown Show is the following Saturday, 27th November.....all welcome ;D ;D ;D ;D My error was caused by my assumption that the GM Day and Bridgetown Show clashed.......only because they have in the past silly me Daggsey

Take 7 VV's & several VC's during a drought to Avondale & the first thing that happens is it rains, which was good except not what the harvesters want. Anyway it was not serious rain & all enjoyed a great Harvest Festival & nice to catch up with some of the WA vintage vanners. Mark T & Shiloh arriving. Mark managed 3 VV's & matching holdens. Old Wallis tractor in the shed. Field Marshall tractor in the playground Old Holden ute 1952 Chev truck with vintage bicycles in the back. That would be a VB? Old form of harvesting with a scythe approx 1 acre a day - must have been horrible with high vis vests.. Horse drawn (Clydesdale) version of cutting. Following Clydesdale with rake to make collection easier. Now up to 4 acres on a long day. Up to 1930's harvesting wise, 10 acres a day 2 people & still slow, hot dusty, wet Semi auto bailing. Even more modern bailing, but with wire ties & a large workforce. Now into the 60's I think & mostly automated, at least from the threshing, wheat seed collection, & note flow through air, rain, dust driving position. Bang up to date, 30 ft cut, air conditioned cab, GPS controlled auto steer computerized yield measurement system etc. How things change. The Swiss carnival band here to entertain. They spend many weeks on the Rhine between Holland & Switzerland, but all are Swiss even though they live in Perth. A few vintage cars arrived on the Sunday including this 1939 Willy's. And this nice old FJ - looks a good match for Wanda, I would have preferred a green one. Bubbles completed the line up on the Sunday with 7 total arrivals nearly half of them Mark's. A good turn out considering the GM car day was on in Bassendean, which Mark also managed to attend - a man of many talents & possibly a secret Tardis. A couple of WWII Willy's Jeep's & a nice MKI Ford Zephyr. Wanda, Auster & Janet enjoying a break. A great day & a nice weekend away. Christmas party is next
