Could anyone please help in identifying (make & approx age) this wheel from my '50-'51 Bondwood. It has loose fitting De Soto hubcaps, but perhaps they were "after market"! Max

G'day Max GM from the 30's ....a rough guess 1938/39 Bedford carryall ute f/f ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D .....I'm going to disagree (as usual ;D)......that era Beddy/Vauxhall had a wide spaced bolt pattern with a wheel center similar in style to FJ/Prefect (not a simple round hole)......Max's wheel looks to have the same stud pattern as '40-'48 Ford and F100 ,but in a non Ford wheel.......so I reckon it's a trailer and caravan company wheel ,something like a Henderson ,Austral,Ajax,etc.......from back when we used to make things here when a need was identified. You could probably use an early Ford wheel for a spare if you weren't fussed about the visual side of things......I have a scruffy one here if you want to wander over one day and compare it with yours , cheers, Col.

Hi Everyone, Now let me put my two cents worth in please.I have a copy of "standard catalog of Chrysler 1924 - 1990 " ( yank spelling ) which has only black and white photos. On page 34 there is clear picture of a Chrysler Airflow Coupe with 14 oval shaped holes in the wheel and as Desoto was a Chrysler product and the hubcaps fit it's a fair bet they are original. Also many Chrysler made vehicles have same stud pattern as Ford.Hope this of some help? Darryl.

Special thanks to the 3 Independent members (Geoff, Col & Darryl) for casting their vote. Just like Canberra, it looks like we have a "hung" decision.
Your prompt response to my query was much appreciated.
Max
