Hi A&A and T&C, The 13/14th doesn't suit me unfortunately, but if it suits others thats fine. Either 20/21 or 27/28 are OK for me. Cheryle, we have been to M/B before, so know which van park to avoid. No reason why we can't go again, though. The Barossa is a little too far for me as an overnighter (about 3 hrs to Murray Bridge plus the rest to Barossa). A & A, I assume the only interest at the moment are the ones who have commented on this thread in the last couple of weeks. (Raym was OK for 27/28, as per their last post on 17th Oct, but will need to check if that still suits them) Steve

Hi All, Sorry for the delay in response and the lack of enthusiam on my behalf. I have had a rough trot lately but things seems to be getting back on track now. I have had a good look at some options and I dont wont to seem pushy and if any one has some feedback it would be great, but at this stage this is the plan: The wife and I are going to the Morgan Riverside Top Tourist Caravan Park on Friday the 26th of November to Sunday the 28th. We will arrive around 6:30-7:00 (maybe a smidge later) on the friday night and then are planning on staying the two days. Morgan is a historic town with heaps of museums and things to see. We were planning on going to the Overland hotel (which is a pub and museum) on the sunday for lunch before departing on our way. It would be a good excuse to see everyone before christmas and catch up with the SA Vanners. The link to the caravan park site is as follows: www.toptouristparks.com.au/parkdetails.asp?jump=5&ident=mrcpI will ring the caravan park tomorrow and confirm there will be availiable sites. I feel as though I should make a decision on this as I was the person who started this thread topic. After considering Pinaroo, I think I will leave this up to Steve to organise for a future trip as this is his baby. Meningie sounded really nice and I was sure it's where we would go, but when I looked into it, there wasn't a great deal of attractions there besides a Cheese Factory and a Golf course . Im sure the caravan park is excellent but hopefully Morgan will offer a little more to suit all people attending. Hopefully this sounds good for everyone and you can attend. It is not set in stone, but if we keep suggesting ideas (many of which are excellent and should be kept in mind for future trips) we will never make a decision and eventually will run out of time. I guess thats one of the downfalls of living in this beautiful country is that there is so many good places we could visit. Please let me know if you are interested by the 13th of November. We will make a tentative booking for approx 6 people on the Saturday night. Does this sound about right or should we expect more or less? You will need to ring up and make your own booking (mention you are with the V.V Group) and we should all be kept together. Also some feedback on the Overland Hotel for Sunday lunch would be great. Cheers Andrew

Hi all, I have just rang the caravan park and it's all organised. the wife and I are booked in for the Friday and Saturday night and will be departing on the Sunday. It's $25 per night per powered site. Please , please when you ring you must mention that your with the Vintage caravan group and they will look after you and make sure they put us together. At this stage I asked for 10 sites and this wasn't a problem. So c'mon people, put your money where your mouth is! ;D the more the merrier!!! See you there

Hi Adelaide VVers,
Mama Razzi and I will be in the Adelaide area working on some travel stories during the week before your run. So we will come to Morgan on Sat afternoon and leave on Sunday. It will be a good chance for us to say hi - and hopefully get some photos which can be used in future VV calendars.
Cheers, Papa Razzi (aka Snaparazzi)

Will do Dave. Now what do you drink again???
Have timed this trip perfectly (a bit like the VV nats). Here and all around the Riverland are the new spring crop of those pesky little locusts again. Have just put a screen of the front of Effie. Hoping the speed I will be going will mean they will just bounce off!!! Steve

Well after leaving Pinnaroo at lunchtime Fri, I had my head under the bonnet of Effie, at Waikerie for about 1/2 an hr, with a little electrical problem. Am glad I travel by myself, as no-one takes those incriminating photo's!! Arrived at Morgan about 4.30pm. At this stage only Toffeeman (Allan & Agnes) had arrived. So now we had 2 of the 4 vans here. The weather was a bit ominous, and a large clap of thunder reminded us. Having been told that Mannum had just rec'd hail stones as big as golf balls had me wondering where to hide a car & van. Luckily, the hail didn't come to Morgan. Next Freeway (Andrew & Liz) arrived, and lastly andrew82 (Andrew & Michelle). By this stage Allan & I had been rehydrating ourselves for a couple of hours. I worked out that small groups can still have fun. I still have no idea why grey nomads want to be in bed by 10.00pm in caravan parks!! Sat morning we did the museum & op shop. Also, Lorraine from the park, showed us her laminated poster form the first VV nats. She was still very proud of it. Sat arvo, we had lots of nibbles, as Allan was turning 70 in a few days. We went to the pub for tea that night, and all shared in a cheesecake for dessert, that Agnes had bought for Allan. Later that night, one of us (not me) tried an extreme sport. I won't elaborate, but there are photo's to come!! Sunday morning, we all left for home, after a great weekend. Andrew & Michelle, Andrew & Liz, Allan & Agnes Andrew & Michelles van my van Andrew & Liz's van Allan & Agnes's van 3 of 4 leaving Sunday morning. Allan & Agnes stayed another night. Cheers Steve

Hi folks, thanks to Andrew82 for a great weekend ,good company A great time was had by all. Thanks to Steve for the great pici's.Can't wait for the next run. After you all left on Sunday Alan and I were sitting in the van reading when we heard one hell of a crash.Everybody ran out of the vans to see what had happened. It was a gum tree had fell on one of the holiday homes right across from where we were.It had made a hole in the roof.Snoopy spent the rest of the afternoon cutting up the tree in the rain. Thanks to Bob and Jacqui for their good wishes for the old fella. I would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous New Year. all the best from Agnes and Alan.

Hi Guys, Thought I would ad my schpiel and pics to the story. Got there about 9pm and had no problems at all, gotta love the reliability of the Cortina! thought it was funny when I was asked "so how many locusts did you get on the way up?" Me - "eerrr none, why?" walking to have a look at Freeways Austin "Oh" the front of his car was covered! and we had come the same way guess it pays to set off a little later! ;D Had pretty dodgey weather all weekend which was a shame, always trying to do stuff inbetween showers. Still we made the absolute best of it and still saw alot of stuff and had a ball doing it. Saturday night we had dinner at the pub, had walked to the warf for a looky and were walking back when we started talking to a guy who had a dog as Freeway had his there. Anyway to cut a long story short he told us to meet us on the river bank in about an hour for some fire twirling! . So we went back to our vans grabbed some beers and headed to the bank. Sure enough not long later a girl named Danielle lit the "death stick" (yes, that is it's real name) lol and proceeded to put on a show for us. Wow, what can you say, it was facinating to watch. While we were doing this we started talking to some of the other guys in the group and one very merry guy (it washis birthday) decided Freeway looked like a Mitchell and was egging him on to have a go. Well, you all know how that went... So here we are, Ladies and Gentleman I give you "Mitchell the fire freak" - not my words! My wife was really interested in this and was dead keen to have a go and was waiting for "Mitchell" to finish when Danielle took the stick did some twirls and acidently burnt herself really bad on forearm after that the stick went away and we hung around for a bit then went back to our vans. I guess the old saying about fire is still true A deathstick has now been placed on Michelle's christmas list, I'm not loking forward to the burns that will no doubt follow . About the only other let down other than the weather was the park. I won't detail all of it as I realy don't want to start a spot fire but the reason Toffeeman referred to the guy as snoopy was there was an old guy there, apparently he was the original owner of the park and passed it down to his kids to run but still hangs around to help out... and keep watch No joke every 20 / 30 mins he would hop in his falcon tray back pop it in "D" and just coast around the park, never looking straight ahead but looking for anyone or anything that was out of place. Dogs of leads, children riding pushbikes, you name it, nothing was safe. Now we ALL understand caravan parks have / need rules but this guy went over the top, seeking kids parents so they could cop an ear bashing too. And we are talking about children aged very young riding around out of the way (ie not on the road) Not teenagers racing around on bmx's. And on the odd occasion he would leave the car and jus wonder around. Same deal, not going anywhere just looking for an excuse to give someone a dressing down. It was a very unnerving feeling thinking that we were being watched all weekend, even to the point of on the Sunday about 20mins before departure time we were all packed up just saying our final goodbye's when snoopy pulls up right next to us, looks at us, then very slowly and theatrically looks at his watch, looks at us for a few seconds and then takes his foot of the brake and creeps away still staring at us. I do feel for this guy to some degree, over the years he has probably had more than his fair share of people cause trouble from hoons / drunks giving him a hard time and having no respect for the park and the people in it. Fair enough, unfortunately it happens but it might be time for this guy to move on, get away from it all. I've got a few more pics I will load later. Still had a really good weekend and are keen to do more!

Hi All, Michelle here. I am just trying to organise the next VV trip. We are lucky enough to have a friend come and stay with us during March from Maine in America so we are down to one weekend in March thats free. The choices are: The weekend of the 19-20th of March or The weekend of the 5-6th of April. The locations are Tanunda in the Barossa or Moonta Bay. Let me know what you would prefer and I will try to pick one that suits all. If you have anymore ideas for future events please let me know. I will do up a flyer for you all to put on your fridge so if you think of any let me know before the next VV meet. From memory we organised these at the last get together: (opps, i lost the page with the info on it ) One in July (brass monkey trip) One in September - One in November - We just need to lock in the locations, Victor was definitely in there, Pinaroo and Meningie. Tanunda, Moonta and Eudunda were also on the itinerary. So put on your thinking caps and I will get something done up in writing. Hope to hear from you all soon, Michelle

Just a thought. Let us know what you decide cheers from Agnes and Alan (toffeeman)
