So, what shall we do? Anyone got any needs / wants / ideas on what they'd like to do for the next Adelaide event? I'm happy to go with the flow but was thinking more like a trip somewhere with a stay overnight. Sorta like what we did at Murray bridge. Olfarts, do Col and Liz still have the caravan park? at the time we were talking about making the Brass monkey run a annual event. We could always take a trip up to sunny Pinnaroo ;D , I hear the locals there are real friendly, just don't look them in the eye or make any sudden movements there is a caravan park there right? Look forward to getting something happening Andrew

I will go with the flow also. By all means, those that feel like a drive to Pinnaroo, you would be most welcome. Yes we do have a caravan park. We also have a great museum (Mallee Tourist & Heritage Centre) and my mate has a tidy collection of that vehicle built for Australian conditions...one restored model of each from FX-HR (10 models) Steve

Hi Dave, There was talk at the VV Nat's that perhaps a weekend in the Barossa or the like would be the go. Pinnaroo is still an option, but it would be at least 3 hrs travel each way for the city folk. I will PM Andrew & see what he reckons. Steve (PS Dave - you could probably get something from the chemist for that itchy towball complaint!!!)

Sorry guys, I have been keeping a low profile lately, and havn't been doing much of anything lately. On Sunday the 29th August we came home just after 1am after being at a friends party for about 4 hours. We came home and found our beautiful dog Lily was missing. We went for a drive around but couldn't see much that time of day so we called it quits and hoped she would turn up in the morning. Morning came and she still hadn't turned up, we drove around again and then finally went out on to Port wakefield road which is a 4 laned highway and one of the main routes into Adelaide. Sure enough about 5k's up the road we found her lying on the side of the road straight away we knew she was gone. It has absolutely shattered my wife and I and we are still really struggling with everything. Here's a pic of her and Daddy in January And another one of her of what she "normally" looked like - with a ball in her mouth. So yeah, life as we knew it has completely been turned upside down. She was only 8 and she had another good 8 years left. As for the trip I was leaning more towards a trip to see Pinnaroo and see Steve and his mate with all the old Holdens. If no one has any complaints I will talk with Steve and work towards setting a date soon. Cheers

Hi Andrew82,
I'm very sorry to hear about the loss of your pooch. Dona Ricardo and I lost our little dog earlier this year, although as a result of illness not misadventure on the road. We still miss her - I keep telling myself that she was "just a dog", but somehow that just doesn't describe the extraordinarily close bond which develops between us and our faithful hounds. You and Michelle have our sympathy.
Don Ricardo

Thanks everyone for the kind words, they are really helping my wife and I through this awful time. We finally laid her to rest last Sunday under a really nice gum tree we have out the front. My wife thought this would be a good spot because most mornings she will get up and look out the window to check the weather. Again, most mornings she will look out the window see the tree and say "good morning Lily"
We just miss her so much.

Hi Folks For those interested, in a trip to Pinnaroo, I was thinking of the weekend of 20/21 Nov. If this is too short notice or too close to Christmas, I will wait for summer to pass, as it gets a bit warm out here in the Mallee. Our caravan park has about 10 powered sites available. Cheers Steve

Hi folks. Sorry we missed your last run.We were trecking Australia.Covered around 8,800ks.Enjoyed every second. ,its good to be home.Thought you would like to know on our way out of Adelaid we stoped at Pinnaroo over night. This caravan site is very sparce. There is no on site Manager. You drive in and someone comes around later to collect the money. It was $16 per night. There are about five permanant vans and as Steve said around ten powerd sites. The rest are none powerd. The tap water is not for drinking although they have a water tank where you get your drinking water. It has two male toilets and two showers, the same for the females. There was no bar-b-q-area. There is a camp kitchen again leaves alot to be desired no seating area there. We will go with the flow where ever you decide but thought you might like to know these facts before you decide.Steve could perhaps check it out for a second opinion Agnes and Alan (Toffeeman)

Hi Folks, The caravan park is only small (so is Pinnaroo!!). A couple of us were throwing ideas around about organising a trip somewhere, and Pinnaroo came up....., along with other places like the Barossa. I just thought I'd try and get the ball rolling, and perhaps get people talking, as the SA mob haven't a VV outing since the 'brass monkey' in July last year. I'm happy to go with the flow also, and am totally open to suggestions on where we may want to go. By no means does it need to be the 'Ritz' in Pinnaroo!! Cheers Steve

Hi Steve See you are keeping things going.Good job we have people like you.Has anyone thought about Meningie. We went there last year in the winter with a group of friends. They have fires you can hire for a small fee, dogs welcome and its right on the front of the lake.Just a thought.Don,t know how far it would be for everyone else. Will have to get a move on if we are planning on the weekend 21st nov.Barossa sounds good also.More input from others on how they feel would be good.cheers Agnes and ALAN

Hi A & A Meningie is a good spot. The date is not an issue. I just picked a date off the top of my head....before it gets too hot, and into Xmas. It would be good if we could have a get-together once or twice a year, just to stop our VV bearings seizing up!!. Steve

Hi Steve Once again I agree. It would be good to go away a couple of times a year.We are thinking of making our trip to the east a regular thing. Get away for the winter but we would go if it was before and after that say March\April then second trip around this time .Dont want your VVbearing seizing up or Daves tow ball getting ichy. cheers Agnes and Alan

Hi A & A, I was waiting to see if there was any more interst from others. At this stage, the interested ones for 20/21 Nov seem to be yourselves, Olfart and myself. The Meningie Caravan Park is pet friendly (as per their website). Perhaps, if this date is not suitable, we should look at another date in the new year. Cheers Steve

Hi Cherton Am not sure what others think, but I think we are better off steering clear of busy periods, both on the roads (for us slow ones) and in the van parks, when we want to try to get a group of sites close together. Cheers Steve

Hi Steve, we are interested in a run soon but this being the start of what is known as the "silly" season it may be hard to get away and as you said parks and roads are busy. We will be interested whenever after Christmas. Looking forward to our first run with V V's. Bob

Hi Steve, I'm thinking of not going too far away, maybe just West Beach Caravan Park, Barossa - Lynoch perhaps (lots of great ops shops in the area) or Murray Bridge. For the ones who are working, this would be an ideal time and would give us a chance to get together to plan some great events next year. I understand the roads are busy but if we keep away from the known tourist haunts we should be right. We are planning to do something. Regards, Cheryle

Hi Steve how about the week of the 13th/14th.Nov.for a quick get away?Idont think we would have much trouble getting in anywhere at this time. What numbers are you expecting?I should think most caravan parks would be glad of the numbers at this time of year before the rush of the silly season cheers A and A.
