Hi Al, just went out and had a look.....no shelf, doesn't look like there ever has been one.....rounded front window....wheel arch mould shape is the same as on the Kennedy below...... .....biggest difference between the two is in the chassis, cream one has a 3x2 box tube drawbar/chassis with an underslung truss welded on......blue van has a 2x2 angle iron drawbar/chassis that I would guess is an earlier issue , also has timber window ledges and more internal timber features than the cream van......and the hardware on the roof hatch is totally different, as is the tow hitch ( see if Cobber's payin' attention ;D)...... and the windows slant in more on the blue van giving the impression of more roof overhang. The Olympic on the side is just a modern stick on item like you can get from any signwriter, wouldn't surprise me if it had nothing at all to do with Olympic other than possibly having been sold through an "O" dealer at some point.....regards, Col.

The blue one looks the same as our van which is a Franklin, we have the wooden window ledges and the eye brows over the front and back windows. Gem

hi everyone all the franklin/kennedy caravans i have had and seen have had the same wheel fender shape with or without the spats. the first van i had was originally lic. in 1964 as a franklin and it had 2x2 angle iron chassis & drawbar. it had front & back windows leaning in at the top & square frames on the opening centre windows. window sills were timber and never had a shelf over the sink. the chassis no. was lower than wills with front and rear windows straight up like the cream van that col had.

Hi All I have a reasonable file on the Franklin / Kennedy fibreglass vans, Skyline which I consider were selling Franklin at the time. The first entry in my file is for Skyline in the RACV 'The Royal Auto Journal' July 1963 page 28. Caravan and Touring Manual by Keith Winser 1963, states 'The Beautiful new Skyline fully moulded fibreglass' 14' price 785 pounds. ( page 159). Caravan and Touring Manual 1964 by Keith Winser feature both Franklin and Skyline on pages 137 and 155. Caravan Manual and Tourist Park Guide 1966 by Keith Winser features an advert for Franklin 'Futura' 14' fibre-glass (So here it is called the Futura), page 155. Caravan Manual and Tourist Park Guide 1969 features the Kennedy - 'Fibreglass for 1969', Australia's best tested over 10 years, (page 225). Caravan Manual & Tourist Park Guide 1970 , Kennedy Caravans 'Victoria's only 14' fibreglass caravan & fully lined too' - eleven layouts 3 berths to 6 berths. Choice of sliding overhead cupboard doors. Hinged from left or right or up and down cupboard doors, one piece plastic coated 5- ply floor. Specially designed chassis for extreme strength. Fibreglass wheel housings. Page 261 My observations -- The Franklin vans front and rear windows featured both the square and rounded windows. The Franklin has the waist mould around under the front window and this does not appear on the Kennedy. Wheel spats were fitted to all and of the same design. In the 1969 Kennedy advert "tested over 10 years -- does this mean that Franklin started in 1959 . Records show that between 1966 and 1969 the van went from Franklin to Kennedy. I also note that different external door hingers were used. None of my info shows the Franklin sign as shown in reply above. Please make comments where you can add additional info or correct any of my observations. Cheers boblor
