A question for the experts , I would like to fit some sort of water tank underneath my Safetee Minor, I have looked around some of the caravan suppliers but there are very few small tanks available that would fit into my limited space, I had a thought this morning which I want to put out there for comment, would it be possible to use PVC pipe with two 90 degree bends at the ends so that you could run say 4 lengths side by side with the ends blanked off giving you a sort of zig zag pattern, as I see it it wouldn't be a problem but what do others think. If it helps I could upload a sketch of my idea later. Derk.

G'Day Derk, have you thought about using a gravity fed tank, they were common back in the old days......or is space a problem here also, it'd be quick and easy to install Kingy

To true Kingy, gravity feed would be simple and straight forward but I was hoping to keep as much space as possible in the kitchen area hence placing it underneath where it would be out of the way, I have it in mind to mount it directly above the axle there by retaining the balance and also less chance of hitting anything while on the move.

I looked at that idea for a Grey water tank on my Franklin, but when I worked out the capacity of the pipe tank it was too small for what I wanted. However, if you have enough space under the van you may be able to make it big enough to hold a fair bit of water. Instead of elbows at each end I thought of using Tee junctions so that no matter what angle the tank was at water would always flow to the outlet, besides, that way the tank would be more rigid. If you use 90mm storm drain pipe the tank could be nice and flat, better than the tanks currently on the market now.

Hey Atog, I'm not ignoring you but I've been there done that glassing stuff before and the memories are just to bad, the itching and having everything you touch stick to you is not a place I'm in a hurry to get back to , some years back I was involved with helping my father build his 47" Ketch and while doing this I was foolish enough to build myself a 24" cabin cruiser both in fiberglass. Good idea with the TEE pieces instead of elbows frankie makes a lot of sense.

Hey Derk Mate it's your van it's your decision A 27' Ketch is just a little bit more work than a watertank ;D ;D The results need to be appreciated for the next .... years either way. Cheers Atog
