Hi All When Mark put the thread up for ......Pennants order and payment instructions in general he also posted this.......... If the pennants make a profit, funds raised will go towards a couple of projects being worked on for the vc.com website, including shifting the DHL section from the forum to the website, and member profiles. (has anyone noticed Geoff & Judes sample profile on the website ) Now 8 days since Mark made that posting and nobody has commented on D H L may be shifted out to the website and Geoff & Judes Ford & Roadmaster caravan sitting out there on its own for the world to see ? Maybe you did read it and don't care ?? I wonder how many of you missed it.........If this members profile goes ahead there will be alot more Cars & Vans out on the website www.vintagecaravans.com/f/f ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

G'day f/f, I care..... about everything on this here web site but I'm no good at cryptic cross words ... so I looked at G & Js profile and couldn't see anything special about it.... I even PMd G&J and made rude comments about Geoff's profile . Nobody said I had to look at THE HOME PAGE to see his profile you have to KISS for me you know Now I see it.... it's luverly None of my business what happens to DHL but..... will we still be able to access it and add information to it as we do now.... will it still exist on the discussion forum and be duplicated on the home page .... I expect so , aye Cobber.

Yes I did read this comment re Profiles and DHL, my thoughts are that 1/ Profiles/pictures would go a long way in showing the general public who happen to come across the web site just how big the following is re; VV's and 2/ rather than "MOVE" DHL to the web site would it be posible to just copy it or better still just have a link to it? that way it will still be here on the forum for us to browse.

well, this is what it is all about. dhl (12 pages) and members' photos album (33 pages) have a huge amount of information about vintage caravans including vintage caravans types and pictures but they are obscured amongst long threads containing rebuild information, a lot of banter and some useless information, making it difficult at times to find or to show people who are interested in the subject. the idea of "FORUM MEMBER PROFILES" is to provide an area which is specifically designed to allow each member to show 4 or 5 photos of their van and maybe 1 photo of their towcar or towcar/van combination. the profile would be forwarded to a moderator who would put it in FMP and list it under the van name, year and member name. to keep it simple and easy to maintain, there is not meant to be any comment added to the profile by other members. the sole purpose of the profile is intended to be a quick and ready photographic reference to each members' vintage caravan. a member may add more than one profile if he/she has more than one vintage van - but only one page per van. if you haven't seen it yet click on forum members' profiles to see what we mean. hope this helps to explain what the intention of the profile is. geoff

Hi Cobber and Humpyboy,
The intention with DHL as I understand it is to continue to allow people to access it and add to it in the forum, but also to archive the important stuff by attaching it to the actual V V website (as opposed to the forum). By copying some or all of the material to the V V website, Mark is hoping to overcome the problem of important historical material and photos disappearing when forum contributors wander off into the sunset, or Photobucket restricts access because the poster hasn't logged in for a few weeks/months (or even worse Photobucket collapses or similar disaster). From my point of view - and probably from yours - that's a very worthwhile exercise, but I understand it will be quite a costly project - hence the profits from the pennants going towards it.
I've got no idea how it can all be made to work at this point, and I think it's still being worked on from Mark's end as well.

Sounds the go to me. Its a right royal pain the way we have lost important photos already thru photobucket deleting stuff just because the sender/poster has not accessed them for a while. Go for it Mark/moderators, a very worthwhile alteration I think regards jennison
