On this thread, you are invited to provide feedback on the 2007 calenders. Both postive & negative feedback is invited. Feedback is essential to the success of calenders in the following years. May I also comment that whilst I believe some members were disgruntled at the way in which I went about the calenders (ie dictated the terms), we have in a very short time frame achieved a result, and the feedback I have received to date on the finished product has been very positive. The photos on the calenders were from the library of a professional photographer who has continually photographed the WA contigent of vintage vanners over the past couple of years, and his wife has written stories on our rigs for various classic car & caravan mags. This was the reason that the calenders were able to be put together so quickly, and also the reason why cars/caravans from other states were unable to be used in the calenders. The same photographer will be visiting major vintage caravan events in the Eastern States next year (such as Coledale) so next years calender, and future calenders, will feature cars/caravans from other states. Hope you enjoy the calenders Mark

VINTAGE CARAVANS CALENDAR 2007 Received mine today...congratulation Mark, Ditzy & Keith Hall. Our very first AUSTRALIAN Vintage Caravan calendar (with centre fold) is a beauty. The quality is tops, the photos are great and the layout is terrific with four photos each month, one large one and three smaller ones down the side of the page. The model of the car and caravan shown in the large photo and the “VINTAGECARAVAN “ sticker are along the bottom of each page. The size of the calendar page is just right and the “holidays and observances” information makes the calendar useful. The shots of cars and caravans “Cruisin’ and Campin’ ” in the “centre fold” are terrific, (the camping theme could be made more authentic next year) Now..... keeping in mind that this effort was produced at short notice using photos that were not necessarily taken with a “Vintage Caravan Calendar” in mind I would like to offer a few suggestions I would like to see in the 2008 calendar. With apologises to the owners of the cars involved...I would like to see less of your cars and more of your caravans. Don’t remove the cars completely...just have them, or parts of them, in the background...as a teaser. I acknowledge this has been done with most of the main photos, I’m just being picky (constructive criticism) The layout is so good I would like to see it kept, but use the three small photos to show different aspects of the caravan depicted in the main photo on that page...as has been done for March and December on this years calendar. I realise this will mean that many caravans that don’t make it onto the main photo won’t be seen at all but that will always be the case..we have enough Vintage Caravans to make calendars until I’m an old man Great effort Keith Hall...what are the chances of getting national distribution for these calendars Cobber.

Gee...I forgot to mention, Congratulations to you Western Australian chaps, your cars and caravans are a credit to the movement.... and yourselves. "Preserving Australias Touring Heritage" (Not real sure about a couple of the cars though..they look a bit bodgie / dodgy ;D ) Cobber.

Good morning and a big thankyou to the people involved in the calendar. Posted thursday and received it yesterday, so was quick. Even better than I anticipated with plenty of photos. I like seeing lots of photos on each month. A great job and well worth $20. So pleased I got one and cant wait until the next. Thanks to the organisers. Also would like to get in touch with the guy in the october picture with his globe trotter to see about where he got his stickers from as on our globe trotter most have come off. Thankyou and have a great day everyone. Marg

Marg, I am responsible for repainting the "Globetrotter" logos on the 2 vans in the calender......the van in October belongs to one of our "members", Snail and the one on the back cover (going over the double white lines...whoops!!) is mine. I am a signwriter by trade and both vans had faded versions of the logo on them, so I was able to brush over them reasonably easily. I think they must have been screenprinted originally. You might notice that the logo on my van is off-centre.....an original fault, not mine!! If I (or someone else) can locate a good copy of the logo to scan on a computer, I would be able to re-produce the logo in vinyl. Both these vans (and me) are in Western Australia. Chris

Thanks chippydave for mentioning the "pulling out of a servo in the middle of nowhere manouevre" (over the double white lines).......now when I think about it, we v'vaners are very conservationist-minded and I believe I may have been going around a dead kangaroo or avoiding a quokka or wombat or camel or something.......... besides, the photo is on the back and when hung on a wall, so no-one will ever see it anyway!! The other thing I always reckon, the taxes I pay don't just get used for one side of the road!

Thanks for that groovy....I had thought of taking a photo, but being the pedantic person that I am, the originals weren't all that clear, so what I brushed has a lot of "artistic licence".....I guess from a distance and to most people they are probably acceptable, but to me they were a bit rough. I'll work on something though and see what I can produce.

Quote Daggsey
"You might notice that the logo on my van that I painted is off-centre.....an original fault, not mine!!"
AND THIS:
"(the Globetrotter in the photo going over the double white lines...whoops!!) is mine."
Come on Daggsey .......come clean ....... and admit to your problem ....... ;D ;D ;D

Hi Mark Just got my calanders. Congrats to all those who made it onto the pages of this great calander. Really good stuff. Good idea to identify year make, model and owner of van and car. I am with Cobber on the idea of not quite so much of the cars . Maybe the main pix with the towcar and featured van Then have three or four smaller shots of different angles ( front , back and left side of the van and maybe one of the interior. Plenty of room to write things in each date/ square. i have already started pencilling in next years vint van events. Cant wait to hang it up on the wall on the 1/1/2007. They reckon its bad luck to put it up before the new year Great first time effort. Reddo

Hi All, I went to the mail box today & guess what NO bills. ;D One Ferries Australia Magazine...great reading if you like old ferry boats. One Jan & Dean DVD, won on Ebay for 55c. Two fantastic calendars. ;D For the first time in my life I wish there were extra months in the year so we could get even more pics. Thanks for the extra pics on the side & the middle of the pages. I wonder if anyone would be interested in publishing a book. An ABC book full of pics of Aussie vans wouldn,t be out of place on sale at our ABC shops. What can I say other then lets make this an yearly event & next time we can have vint vans from all over Australia. Next year could we have the van which is at the Australian Museam Canberra on one of the pages as this van is on display 365 days a year. Now there is a van doing its bit for the vint van movement. Bruce....

Chris,
We seem to be getting away from the original thread...calendar feedback, but I guess if the Grand Poobah doesn't come down heavy, we might as well continue ;D. I will work on the logo and once I can get something positive to happen, I will start a new thread in general. I notice you're in Adelaide, which is of course, the birthplace of the Globetrotter.....maybe you can give us a potted history of the company if you know anything, or maybe you have something in print with the logo on it that I could scan. I believe that the company is defunct, so I doubt if there would be any copyright issues.
By the way Mark, I think the calender is fantastic and I don't have a problem with photos of the tow vehicles.....I think it shows how diverse we are and that we don't align ourselves to any one particular motor vehicle manufacturer

Gday!
Firstly, hey guys don't worry about going off on a tangent away from the original thread, that's what makes this site great! In addition to the humour!
Got me calendars fast and well packaged. Isn't it funny how aussie post can get mail from West Coast to East Coast in the same time as it takes me to send mail to someone in the same town?!? (Our mail travels 120K to get sorted then come 120k back again.)
Back to the calendar. One word - FANTASTIC. Great mix of vans, plenty of Bondies, some plastic, oops fibre-glass (I shood shut up one of my vans is half glass!) and some tinnies and TDs! As for the cars (I don't wanna start any debate here this is my opinyon only) great mix of cars - especially Black Betty, the 'Stang, Vicki etc, OK and the GM stuff too. I think having the cars is important, as it is often the tow vehicle that leads people into v-vans, and sometimes (for example Loveshack and the Victoria) the car & van make an awesome set-up. Anyway well done! I would have to say the best page would be March, very nicely done main photo, and the smaller shots of the accessories & interior complete the picture. The Cruisin' shot is also awesome.
Cheers,
Tinnie

YAHOOOOOO After reading the rave reviews I managed to pick up my calenders from Mark on the weekend and I wasnt dissapointed. Loved the pics and layout. It will be even better with vans from all over the country in next years I especially liked May( even if my rearend does look big from that angle). But maybe I'm a bit biased Its a really nice feeling to see my DAILY driver wagon and my used and abuse caravan on the front cover ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Love seeing pics of old cars (and thier old caravans ) cruising down the highway
