Hello Mark
I have always loved vintage caravans and I recently managed to obtain one that I have been eyeing for some time now. I have absolutely no idea of what its called, when it was built or any idea where to start on how to restore it. It is the same sort as the one on this web page. The black and white one at the bottom of the page.

I was surfing the net this evening looking for photos of old caravans so that I could find out what colour and paint job pattern was typical for my model. When stumbling upon this article, I got very excited when I saw that van as it's the same as mine but obviously a lot better nic.
Can you tell me more about the model and how I might be able to get in touch with an owner so that they may share photographs of restoration in progress so I can get an idea on where to start. What I am most worried about is the pop up roof. How to go about restoring that and sourcing someone to fit a flyscreen into it as well as how to go about making it watertight. My next concern is how to get plugs and light fittings for the interior and also where to source tail lights etc for the exterior. My friend (last owner) is great with paint jobs as he has experience doing up vintage cars so the painting and decorating bit seems to be the easy part. Unfortunately, neither myself or my partner are very mechanically minded and we naturally don't want to be ripped off when we search for people to restore the fiddly bits like the rubbers for the windows.
I am keen to find out what a typical restoration would cost before we begin. It would be lovely to see her on the road and being used within the year. Like a typical woman, I have the hawiian curtains with the bobble trim and the chenille quilt put away for the final dress of the van but no idea where and how to go about the fitout. I would be very greatful for any help/advice you can give me or refer me to someone who can. I am able to take photos of what ours looks like now if you would like to see.
I live at Torbanlea which is approx 30kms north of Maryborough in Qld.
Cheers

PS .....I have more information - The Caravan has a label plate on the front that reads "Sunliner Fibreglass" It's distributor was in Stones Corner. So it is a Qld Van.
