Reply to Masso, As you were complaining about it being too cold to go after several invites I did think you were not coming, so did not put your name down. I am so sorry about this oversight. Please note personal secretary may resign her position but will stay if bribed with suitable liquid refreshments for Xmas dinner. Regards PA Mustangpall

I finally got around to calling Ken at the Katoomba park today. When I mentioned the Vin van group, and would it be alright to bring a small dog, Ken let out a small groan, and said that because the park is in a National Park, the local council won't allow ANY DOGS (his emphasis) in the caravan park. Obviously things have changed from 12 months ago. (Humpty2, did you leave some of Lilly's "mess" behind?? ) So, we've scrubbed the Katoomba weekend from our calendar. We're looking to see if we can make it up to the S.E. Qld event at the end of July instead. Put another couple of thousand kays under the Millard's belt . cheers, Al.

When i was leaving Narrandera i missed selecting second gear proberly and the G/Box let out an almighty bang and spat the gear lever back down to the neutral position. I checked the linkages under the bonnet and under the car... all OK. Gearbox then had a slight clunk going through from 1st to 2nd. No other noises when driving up through the gears... Reverdsed out the shed this morning and i thought i had put the shift well into the neutral position ... let the foot up off the clutch and.. it spat the gear lever down into neutral End result.. i have a very noisey first gear and a slight clunk going up to second.... But.. hey.. look on the bright side. 3rd sounds great and there is no bearing noises while driving along . So... looks like the box is up for a couple of gears .. or maybe a complete cluster and rebuild kit .... but not before friday. So................... Might arrive at Katoomba on the end of a lump of rope or.... on an NRMA tilt tray with Rosie dragging along behind . A fortnight ago it was the carby.. a year ago it was points/coil/ condenser on the grey motor at Katoomba ... now its the gearbox The FB Hoodoo continues. ;D ;D ;D That wisecrack about hiring a cabin might actually come true. Can borrow sons Honda 929 Fireblade and be there in 1 1/2 hours from Newy ;D ;D ;D See yas there ...by hook or by crook. Reddo

hi reddo
had a 57 fe back in the old days with triple su's, extractors, bored out , cammed up, lowered and lots of 'grunt' for an old grey.
it had a bad habit of tearing teeth of the cluster, probably cause of all the wheelies i did as a 'boy'.
ended up only putting half the bolts back into the gearbox/engine connection to make it easier/quicker to replace the gears.
your problem brings back memories.

That's not too good Reddo - sounds like you'll be there "toothless" this year. Have a great time in Katoomba and good luck with the repairs. Wish we could make it to a Katoomba Christmas.....maybe next year.....looking forward to seeing your pics.

Hi Geoff You wrote............."your problem brings back memories. geoff " ummmmmmmmmmm... which particular problem are you refering to Geoff.. I have many Mechanical, physical, physcological, sociological, beer dependency, Her indoors , short term memory loss... long term memory loss.... just plain old memory loss.....cosmetically challenged, gluttony, gambling, bad women, good women....and last but not least... Vintage caravans ;D.... oh yeah.. and then there is that pregnant goat wanting me to pay child maintenance money... ;D ;D ;D ;D Meanwhile ........back in the shed... Just got the new coil over shocks for the effy back from my mate who had to make a few collets up for me ... Started fitting them ... few other mods needed before it all goes back together.. If Katoomba had been one week later i might have had old Black Betty back on the road..... Will be scanning for red lights in the panno well before i get to them on the way to Katoomba. Will avoid any first gear take offs where ever i can get away with it. Once rode the Norton home form Sydney with a broken clutch cable... Red light... no stopping .. veere left.. up the footpath .. across the pedestrian crossing with all the walkers.. back on the road at the next driveway .. and so on until i hit the expressway. Bump start after a refuel at Wyong...home safe ;D Just finished fitting kerosine powered electric blanket in " Rosie D Bondy " Its all good brothers..... i hope Reddo

Hi Guys, Looking forward in catching up with you guys this weekend. Its going to be cold,I hope it snows.A powered site makes it easy. Its been cold in the western suburbs the last few nights with plenty of frosts in the morning. Had plenty of ice on the car window this morning.Turns out it was the coldest june day in 61 years. The old xr ford 200ci let me down in the morning due to the cold.It wouldnt start, so I had to take the commodore that even shrugged when it started due to the cold. See you guys soon. Katoomba, One of the best runs of the year as I dont need ice.
