Hi everyone! ;D
We recently bought an old van and were presented with a few hidden and some not so hidden treasures! ;D
Found inside the multitude of nooks and crevices were:
The list included:
...a number of milk bottles..pint and half pint
....two metal torches...what no batteries!! tch ;D
...1 gentlemans straw hat
....2 ladies hand stiched velvet hats...roll on cup day!! ;D
....1 complete copy of the Weekly Times...June 20 1962,
there were a few "classifieds" for second hand vans and you could pick up a bargain if youve got between 200 and 300 Pounds!
....the ladies could read up on the goss with a dozen or so 1950's Womens Mags!!
...or help themselves to a "Cinderella Bon Bon" that clearly had "exquisitely flavoured centres"
..and of course the old tin or two...my fave being a Tea Tin..from :Henry Berry and co of Melbourne" of course .... .no nescafe jars in this rig!!! ;D
A rather threatening looking bread knife was found hiding in...the tin lined bread bin!!!
....a bread board...green edged to match the interior!
...a vintage "FORD" brand car battery still hooked up to the 12 volt lighting system!!
....a set of hand stiched heavy duty car seat covers,,,model to be determined! ;D
...a small round perforated metal food safe
...a full set of bedding...comprising starched white sheets and chenille (candlewick) matching bedspreads
plus quality woolen blankets...folded neatly away in the drawers for those cold Victorian nights!! ;D
and of course the old mattresses and "stripey pillows"
...as well as a "Shellite" stove...complete with a box of matches and fuel....and to think we had to make a special stop to buy a lighter for the gas BBQ!!
Not to mention the various bits of crockery/pans/cuttlery etc etc...
Anyone else have any "special" finds in vans you've purchased over the years?? ;D ;D
Have a great day!
Marc!
