Howdy all, I thought I'd begin a new thread here since there has been no reply under 2010 NSW Events. Is anyone interested attending the 2010 Shannons Show n Shine in Canberra in March? You can read a post by Jennison about this event under the above mentioned. 800 cars and us VV'ers get centre stage ......what are we waiting for? We can make a weekend out of it and stay at the White Ibis just 10 mins from the event! I'm sure Jennison will post some more info in the not so distant future..........think about it.......should be a lot of fun. Adam

Once again I must recommend this fantastic display of old vehicles(and if we make it along too - vintage caravans) and it should be perfect as it MATCHES our VV CREED!!. THERE IS NO JUDGING , NO PRIZES , NO RULES , NO FEES just a huge display (fully sponsored by Shannons) of yesteryears vehicles of every make you can imagine and YES the VVs are smack dab in the middle!! I heard at the meeting last nite that they are thinking there maybe over 1000 participants this year. The white ibis van park is now known as the capital country holiday village, located 10 mins outside of Canberra just off the federal highway and 15 to 20 mins max to the lawns of old parliament house where the show is. Show lasts from 8 or 9 am to 2 to 3 pm so you have plenty of time to head home. The van park has great kids facilities - jump castle, paddle boats , putt putt , games room and my place is only 5 mins away. Pub a two min drive away (or a 10 min stagger) as well. All happening on Sunday the 21st March. So come on...... whatabout it? Just ask Kenny Koala , he goes every year. Speaking of which, Ken has your new old car arrived yet?? Jennison

I am truly surprised that Adam and I can't drum up any interest in this event, not even a comment - its a good time of year weatherwise, a good excuse for a gettogether and a mecca of old motor cars to look at on the sunday in a magic location. Enough said, I will nag you no more Jennison ;D

Yeah I dunno Jeff......I thought that one reason why we drag these old wrecked vans home is to preserve them and display them to the public instead of rotting on some farmers property People get to see these gems in all shapes & sizes & admire how it was done in the yesteryear period. From what I've heard they que up asking question after question & you have to beat them off with a stick I thought we'd rack up 20 vans easy..........I know some people aren't into the show scene but we could make a weekend out of it & still sit around & have a chin wag ..........or go the pub for a while? Retail shopping therepy? Lots to do The NSW/ACT calender seems to be a bit thin.........maybe everyones just doing their own thing ........oh well, as long as everyone's still having fun Adam

Checked today and Capital country holiday park fees are $30 per nite for a powered site. They also have a big covered BBQ area right next to those sites with heaps of room.

Hi Jenno and Kazanadam Maybe it is like i said earlier on in this thread. Only so many weekends in a year. I have learned that ya dont need a crowd to have a good time. Even if there is only 2 or 3 of you there ya can still wave the V.V flag and have a bloody good time. NSW is a bloody big place and for a lot of us Canberra is at least a 4 hour drive. S.Q guys eem to manage a lot of get togethers....maybe because ther is a strong demographic concentration of forum members in within a few hours of each other and it is easier for them to hook up at a central destination. There is the exceptions like JBJ and Sutcac that do a heck of a lot of travelling up and down the coasts to van get togetherin all three east coast states. Work??.. finances?? ... family commitments can shackle a lot of us as well .. so yeah... not easy to attract starters sometimes. That is why it is important to enjoy the goodtimes when finally we do hook up for a weekend and everyone can attebd. That is what makes Coledale so special. as a NSW event.... and maybe the spring tour as well.... I dunno... just gotta get out there and do it whenever ya can. Reddo.
