A recently retired New York man wanted to use his retirement funds wisely, so he decided to buy a home and a few acres in Portugal .

The modest farmhouse had been vacant for 15 years; the owner and wife both had died and there were no heirs.

The estate was being sold to pay back taxes. There had been several lookers but the large barn had steel doors and they had been welded shut. No one wanted to go to the extra expense to see what was in the barn and it wasn't complimentary to the property anyway... so, no one made an offer on the place.

The New York gentleman bought it as is, paying just over half of the property's worth; moved in and set about to access the barn... curiosity was killing him.











So, he and his wife bought a generator and a couple of grinders... and cut thru the welds.


The doors were welded shut, but the grinder took care of that.

From what I have read it is actually cars that have been in storage for a car museum and have nothing to do with the story in question. But hey, would it be great if it is true

Strange things do happen. Finds do occurr but not like this one.

The last I heard was a fella that bought a couple of acres in the hills outa of melbourne. Most of the property was overgrown and had a shed on it that you could not access.

He took possession of the property and worked his little heart out cleaning the place up. When he finally got to the shed he found he was the proud owner of 3 vintage cars 2 chevs and an Austin 7. They were in a very sad state of repair. He kept one and sold the other 2.

The A7 was offered to me but it was way more work then I was prepared to take on at the time...

The real finds these days are in peoples garages in the suburbs. you know the ones. project that were never started or will never be finished
