Hello I know it seems a long way off but Wintersun is 4th -14th June 2010. Time seems to go quickly these days. So I thought I'd start this thread. I have booked Paul and I into the Kirra Beach caravan park Cheers Kathryn

Hi Kathryn.. Yeah it is a long way off ...... However there is no harm in forward planning. I would like to get up there next year again. I have only been there once in 2007 and it was snowing at Warwick. The south west winds near froze us at Coolangatta I was only there 2 days and got a phone call from the missus that we had been flooded out in Newcastle . Had to drive straight home to start the cleanup. So yeah... would be nice to have a bit of a holiday there next year... if it is still going to be on that is Reddo.

Hello Reddo
I rung the Kirra Beach caravan park and they only had 5 caravan sites left so I figured if Wintersun doesnt go ahead we could still stay there for a few days. All we had to do was to pay a $50 deposit.
Even if someone has a van sometimes you can book into a cabin or villa and park the caravan beside the villa.
When we came home recently with the Propert we stayed in a villa at a caravan park as it was raining and we parked the Propert and car alongside the villa.
Would be good if you do make it and will be nice to meet the man behind the legend !

Latest from Wintersun
"Hi Again, Wow only about 200 days to Wintersun and lots of things are happening! Wintersun Mildura was held in August, it was great fun and Mildura are now keen on having an annual Mini wintersun every August (2010 will be 13th - 16th August). Thanks to everyone who came along and special thanks to the people of Mildura who went out of their way to make everyone feel welcome. Wintersun Coolangatta / Tweed June 4 to 14, 2010: Dance Competition: We have received a number of offers from various teams and individuals to run a Dance Competition under the Wintersun banner. We will consider all suggestions and if we can find a solution that will ensure a safe quality competition with long term prospects of success and financially viable to all concerned we will be happy to include the event again. Any submissions need to be posted or emailed to Wintersun by the end of November. Dance Workshops: Any dance teachers who would like to be included in our dance workshop series are requested to email us so we can set an exciting and varied programme. Car Entries: We are finalising a couple of new initiatives for our car entrants and hope to have entry forms available on line and by email toward the end of the month. Merchandise Sites: have been available for about 4 weeks, already all the van sites in Queen Elizabeth Park have been snapped up as have more than half of the booth sites. A list of stall holders is now available from our web site (click on Stalls). Competitions: It looks as if The Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist search will be back together with a brand new any performer Tribute Show (band or solo) - as long as it fits the Wintersun theme. Venues: We are finalising our 2010 venues, but we are having a few difficulties with both Seagulls and Twin Towns possibly facing major changes before June. As soon as we know where we stand we can finish our programming. Entertainment: We are planning the best line up ever for 2010 with some old favourites and new stars and will start to publish our programme as soon as we know what venues we can use! Hopefully early next year. Bands and performers should email an expression of interest now to be considered for Coolangatta & Mildura. THANK YOUs: Thanks to Geoff & the team at Gladstone who has come up with a fantastic fundraiser for Camp Quality and for Wintersun which hopes to involve dance clubs throughout the country, if you are in a dance club email me and I'll forward the details. Thanks to Summerland Rockers for being the first to forward to our address. Thanks to Mick in Rockhampton for giving our Premier a bit of earache and telling the Qld Government that they should support Wintersun. Future: Good news continues in Coolangatta with more positive meetings with Gold Coast City Council finalising a three year agreement with Wintersun. While this is a very good step forward it is a long way from addressing all of the issues we are facing so we will continue to explore other possibilities for Wintersun in the future. Before Christmas we will be visiting Coffs Harbour, Newcastle, Port Maquarie and other possible host sites. CONTACT INFORMATION:

Hi all,
Anyone contemplating attending the Wintersun & looking for van park accomodation......we have some good news.
We have booked at a place called Boyd's Bay Holiday Park......pretty much the same distance as Kirra but on the southern side, & no ridiculous over-rated holiday time prices either! $38.00 per night (2 adults + 1 child) & a heated pool with a huge slippery dip.... just the thing after drinking all those beers!
Check out the website, it looks real good, cabins are available also......hasn't been any trouble booking, other friends of ours booked today.
The web is tchp.com.au , then click on Boyd's Bay & scroll down the drop box!
Cheers Adam

Hi there, we are coming down for wintersun in our caravan and are hoping that we can camp at Kirra Beach Caravan, but it is booked out.... Does anyone know of any cancellations or vacancies? Last time we were at Tallebudgera for the vintage caravan weekend, someone was saying they book a heap of sites & sometimes there are cancellations? Any help would be great. Thanks

Hi All, Well another one over. It was a pretty good event. We stayed at Kirra, along with a few other Forum members. We met lots of old friends , & some new ones. It was nice to meet Kazandadam on the weekend, & talk vans. Met up with that many I wont mention names, but it certainly is good knowing so many nice people with common interests in vintage vans & cars. A dozen of us SE Qld regulars met & had Sunday evening dinner at Kingscliff, something we try to do one night of every function. Saw lots of new (to me) vintage vans, & I apologise to those of us that I didnt photograph. I only was in the show for one day, & half a lap into the Saturday Night street cruise, my rod boiled badly & appears to have blown both head gaskets. So Sunday AM on a tilt tray home again. Hopefully not too much damage, but who knows. Motor only has 62000 Kms on it. I had only just commented how well it was behaving. It has been running cool with no problems since I replaced the damaged thermo fans from our Easter trip. Find out this weekend when I get the heads off, I guess. Some cars & vans as follows. An unusual styled Fargo customised pickup A couple of customised Holdens One of a large number of mid 50's Buicks unusual ply van very nice 54 Ford tudor late 30's Ford Coupe in the style I remember as being very popular in the 60's 59 Greythone in pretty original condition externally nice ply van in park All in all a good fun weekend. I dont get too worried by minor mechanical failures any more. Its all fun JBJa
