Hello
We are picking up the Propert this weekend on our road trip down south.
We rung Shannons and they said they had never insured a Propert before ! They have to get PROPERT into their computer system so to get the quote they used a 1959 Road Haven as the make until they get Propert into the system
Has anyone used Shannons before for V V insurance?
Regards Kathryn

Hi All.. There is a whole mess of threads on here about old van insurance. so i picked one of the more recent ones to add this info to. Whilst at the Muswellbrook car show i approached the people maning and.... ... femaling the Shannons tent about V . V insurance. One of the girls took all my info about "Rosie".. One of the questions you get hit with is "Manufacturer- Brand". Had to think quick as i am not full bottle on who made her.. so seeing as though i come from Newcastle i "Christened " Rosie a "Walsh" caravan. Which i dont think is too far from the truth . The lady said there is concerns about V.Vs at Shannons. 1 is permanent gas installations and the other is water. By water i think they mean the connection of mains presure to the van via a hose at van parks etc.. That is... pressurised. I can see what the issue is. If a hose bursts the van could cop a bit of damage inside.. timber swelling. food stuffs perishing etc, etc. I made it clear that Rosie has a water tank and is unpressurised. Gas bottle sits on the ground with flexible 2 metre hose to 2 burner gas stove when camping. I recieved a call late today from "Phill" at Shannons Sydney office. Got a few more details off me and stated that to insure the 1954 Ply van for $3000 would cost me a fee of $111.00. We talked some more and he said that seeing as though i have 2 other policies with them ( old bikes) he could increase the sum insure and stay at the same annual premium. Dont want to re-open another great long winded conversation on Bondwoodvans thread. Just thought people would be happy to know that the insurance co's are finally (after 5 years of lobbying that i am aware of here on the forum) sitting up and realising that there is a market out there for old van insurance . Its all good. Reddo

Reddo and co. Good to see Shannons doing a bit more on the VVs. I have a couple of policies with them and always get into a chat about old cars with the consultant but 10 months ago they were still so so on the vintage vans. I went back to CIL and all was arranged in a few minutes. Rollydog
