Here, here! I agree 100%. Thanks to Mark for starting the forum, and also thankyou to JBJ and Retro1 and anyone else I have forgotten who helps keep this site running smoothly. My van was left for dead, and it's awesome to think that we are doing our part to preserve some history for future generations. I think it's so sad that my van could have been left to completely rot away .

Wholeheartedly agree with the thanks to the people who keep this site running! Without this site we never would've found our van (maybe I should say it's your fault!) Although our van isn't quite yet saved (we're a long way off that!) I am very determined, and these vans, like classic cars need to be preserved for future generations!

Hi Olfarts The biggest crime against vintage caravans is that hideous act known as .. "The demolition derby" The morons that run these shows arent happy to just have old cars drive around in circles until they destroy each other.... Oh no... the latest craze is to attach and old caravan to the back and sling them from side to side on a racetrack while some other bonehead attempts to maim and cripple it. The organisers have "scouts" that do as we do.. cruise around the backblocks of the local suburbs looking for unloved vans. Approach the owners and score the van for near nix.. zilch.. Haul em off to the showground and then set about kicking all the glass out. Oh but wait.. theres more... They are smart devils. They rip out the stainless sinks, aluminium windows etc and throw them into seperate scrap metal bins. I once tried to explain to the organisers that they could make heaps more $$$$ than they make on gate sales on the night of these massacres. Just rescue them and phone me.... ;D ;D ;D ;D Naa .. i mentioned the worth of the old vans to them. Tried to explain that old vans are like old cars, trucks, motorbikes...They deserve a better fate.... But... alas... fell on deaf ears. If it wasnt for nutters like us scouring the countryside and lugging these old treasures home the world would soon be baron of old vans. Even if the van is on its last legs and beyond repair they can still make a contribution to the stock of spare parts. Give ya'selves a pat on the back next time ya haul a van home.. and take consolence in you have / are doing your bit for our great hobby. Christ knows.... i've tried over the years . Reddo .

All so very true, Reddo, and your devotion to the cause is to be highly commended. However, every van that is demolished or just left to quietly decay into oblivion increases the rarity factor and so incrementally increases the market value of those that you have saved and/or resurrected.
Now, who was that that said that I'm a plurry cynic? Eh? Eh?
