Hi myvan wonder whats different inside with your car to ronmcg's series 2 I took on ? A few more photos wont go astray if you have some. I guess thats a series 3? dont know a lot about the different models yet, but mine has the full chrome bumpers. ST

Nice car, well done ;D The series three is preferred by most. Michael Gill-Bailey at the Jaguar Workshop has converted one of those model to run with the XJ40 motor and four speed gearbox. More power and great economy Cheers, Ron

That's a nice looking Jag, I also have had a few of them, 4 Mk11's& 3 early XJ6's. They were all great cars to cruise in.

Tripple SU's will suck some fuel through! Luckily S3's are injected and not too bad on fuel, comparitivily speaking! Oil filters are a bit harder to get to than on carb models though! but at the end of the day, it doesn't matter if they're a bit harder to work on than other cars, as soon as you get in that drivers seat, all is forgotten! They are the best drivers car i've found so far!

He was toying with the idea of changing the wheels, but traded it on a Rolls ,thats another story.

I have a 420G with triple carbs and just sold a Series two with twin carbs.
The 420G is better on fuel on the highway. It did 21 mpg on one trip. Both have the same engine, but the triples when tuned properly, suck more air and less fuel ;D

Hello All, Paul here
Thanks for all the nice comments. Its been a long time coming but at last we got our Jag. Picked it up on eBay for a good price. Its a 1985 Series 3 Sovereign, 4.2 litre fule injected with 3 speed auto. The bodywork and upholstery are in excellent condition for its age. Mechanically she is very good as well but needs some bushes and seals replacing. We will be taking her out for a cruise this weekend after I have changed the oil and oil filter.
Regards
Paul
