Well, progress on my Sunliner has been rather slow because of work commitments, lack of time, money, money, time....blah blah blah..... I used a top of the wazza primer and have put on the first glossy top coat and she's coming up a treat .... except for a few places where I've sprayed the gloss on and its a little blotchy in some areas . If anyone can shed any light on this it would be appreciated, as this is the first fobbergross I've ever painted and to get that lovely shiny finish is quite a task Anyway, I've enjoyed getting stuck into the old girl and its heaps of fun Maybe I will be a runner-up for one of the slowest VV restorations in Oz.... .......oh well, will just have to keep at it..... Will post some more pics of the final gloss coat in 2014 (nah, I couldn't take that long could I... ). Cheers, Hillbilly..... ;D ;D ;D

Hillbilly .....what can I say ........you could at least wear a hat to keep the hot QLD sun off your head, instead of placing the Sunliner's hatch on the roof of the shed to keep you outta the sun ;D ;D Looks great mate .....good to see you got off the bot found the time to invest in the Sunny. Looking forward to further progress pics Bro and a big kiss from Ditz

Hey hillbilly - I painted my sunny 4 weeks ago and managed to get a fair shine.
What have you painted it with? how have you prepared it? how many coats . whats the final coat (clear?) and what have you done with the final coast?... all the research i did before i painted mine had something to say about each of these aspects.
I did 15 coats ( 2 primer - 2 spray fill - 2 primer - 3 fist colour (monza red) - 3 final colour (Toyota 3r3) and 3 clear with a metallic fleck through it. I would have liked to have done a few more clear... but
Sanded between each stage - sanded the clear coat, buffed with cutting compound and then a liquid polish..
a bit of work to get a shine (2 pak would have been easier) but worth it...
cheers
Jason

Hi Hillibilly,
I'm afraid I am winning the slowest reno of a sunny (groan). I reckon the best paint job I've seen was using Norglass fiberglass paint (see Kaz and Adam post). That's what I have for my van. Just waiting to bloody use it.
Keep us posted mate! Dorian
