Hi Ray,
There isnt any park I can find on the Tweed /Gold Coast that allows pets.
I dont know where we can go thats desirable to most of us, that will allow you to bring Jack.
I certainly arent interested in heading out the bush, but if the majority want to do that to allow a dog to come, thats up to the others to decide.
Its up to the others.

Hi Scoot & Ray & Dosse,
Thanks for that Scoot. Just shows what a bit of thinking can do.
As I'm not a dog owner, I never thought of looking up the sites you did.
Maybe Ray & /or Dosse can research those sites?
As I'm probably the closest one to that area, I'll go up & have a look at them if its neccessary. we need to try to remove hiccups from our get togethers, & as ray travels with his mate Jack, if its at all possible for Jack to be there then thats were we should stay.

G'Day All I made some inquirys about sniffy friendly parks today down Hasting-Point way. Park is about 100m from ocean and there is a shuttle-bus from the local club, that may suit some vintage vaners who like a drink or seven. Any-way they have a pool and bbqs, they are sending some info in the post I will let you know when I know more.Regards David dosse.

Hi Guys Don't want to create najor problems about pet friendly parks, just that I don't have anywhere to leave Jack apart from kennels, which he really hates with a vengeance. That park we stayed at at Banora Point was pet friendly too. So it would seem that there are a few venues around Chinderah for pet friendly parks, as well as Ballina (for somewhere different). The Sunshine Coast sounds fine to me too, if they actually have dog-friendly parks (thought they had all gone in that area). Whatever area is OK by me. Cheers Ray

Ray wrote: "I don't have anywhere to leave Jack apart from kennels, which he really hates with a vengeance" Why not lock him in the house with a can opener,10 tins of Pal and slab of xxxx gold. He can invite a few "chickymutts" around for a bit of a rave party while your gone. Either that or spike his drinks with chloriform and sleeping pills then let him sleep for a day or 2. by the time he comes out of his coma you will be back home and he wont know the difference. third option .. and i have suggest this one before. Dress Jack in stubbys, t shirt and thongs. Get his coat dyed black with an affro look hair do...stick a pair of cool dude sunnys on his head and tell the caretaker he is your midget cousin over here on holdays from Botswanna . Reddo..... for all your pet minding solutions ;D.

I have attached a the letter that I sent out to all the club's. Now for the good and the bad. ;D They allow dogs BUT..... There is no power. This is the web site so you can have a look www.qvag.org.auMatt and I will be happy to go with all of you in September. To the Trip Coordinator,
We wish to invite your club to our 16 Annual Fly-In at Watts Bridge Airfield Toogoolawah. Saturday 25th to Sunday 26th August 2007.

As usual there will be a large area set aside for historic and special interest vehicle parking. Gate entry for special interest vehicles is free for the entire event.
This is a two day event, with full camping and amenities blocks available. There is also a licensed bar, Catering over the weekend and a Dinner on the Saturday night. This dinner must be booked and payed for by Sunday 19th August 2007, you can do so by phoning Shane Winter on 0407 122 219 or Phone/Fax (07) 3300 3357.
If you have any queries regarding this event please don’t hesitate to contact us on any of the above contacts.
Thanking you for your assistance.

Hi All,
This is gonna get lost with that stupid "one last posting" in effect.
I will be up at tweed (at last) next sunday arvo, & try to get to look at the dog friendly parks so jack can come along. he's a pretty good little bloke, but dont say much when you have a drink with him.
I'll probably have to make a decision, so I'll narrow it down to a couple of parks, unless one is obviously the best. Then I'll make a democratic decision for the rest of you lot.
If the forum stays on one last posting, I'll probably PM &/or ring the regulars, as well as post on here.
I'll aim at the 15-16 September as dosse suggested, but I'll let you know after I look.
I'm running out of time trying to get my sunliner registered. I've got it towable, all lights working, brakes & suspension OK. Just gotta get the *******windows rebuilt & fitted. I wish I could get my hands on the person that designed & built the early Sunliner side window system. Its so involved making all the bits, when you cant buy anything to do the job. Every piece was handmade, & flimsy. On the 4 windows, nothing is the same. Every piece was hand made at the time, and nothing interchanges from one window to the next.
But time will solve it.

Hi S E Q V V's
OK you mob, I've been waiting patiently for you to make up your minds where you are staying. We are going to the Chev Festival in Caloundra From Thursday 6th to Monday 10th September staying at Hibiscus Caravan Park and then going north to Bundaberg then heading south again, and should be around northern NSW for this great weekend. We would love to join in the fun. Would love to catch up with anyone along the way.
We were thinking along the Coast Road of north coast of NSW, South of Tweed. I havn't had a look at that area.
We need 1 site for V V & Chev, One Cabin for Dad & maybe another site for another of our friends (not V V but good tourist)
Please let me know the decision so i can book my Group in!!!!

Hi All,
looked around today & decided on the "River Retreat Caravan Park" in Tweed Heads South, on the river. You can Google search the park & find its location.
At present they have 9 van sites, several ensuite cabins, & 8 big powered tent sites that will each take a good sized van & car, tents, annexes, etc, but do not have annex slabs. These are all available at present, & MUST be booked & pre paid for before they will keep them.
Fees are $27 per night for powered sites, $70 per night (plus linen fee) for ensuite cabins.
There is a $40 dog bond, & a $10 key bond for each site.
The van sites in a group are opposite the tent sites, & are numbered 40a, 40 (mine),41,42,43, & tent sites TS01 thru to TS08 Other van sites were 50,33,33a,34 & 36, which are close to the others, & 15 which is a little away from the rest.
By the fact that the park was almost full today, I suggest nobody waste any time booking.
The managers are John & Margaret, & phone 0755242700.Dont forget to mention the Vintage Caravan group, as I've discussed them holding the sites as long as possible. I dont believe they will, but they should group us together I hope. Its a clean OLD park, in a pretty reasonable spot, close enough( 5 minutes) to civilisation, & what looks to be a pretty good fishing spot on the riverbank at the entry gate.
The rest of the dog friendly parks I looked at didnt impress me enough to even go in & look at closely.
All need to look after their own bookings SOON or we'll miss out on the sites.

Hi all
We have booked our site, and also one for our friend and a cabin for our other travellers for the Saturday and Sunday nights. Should be arriving about lunch time on Saturday. Our friend unfortunatley has not a v v but will be driving an EH. Hope this is OK.
If anyone around the Caloundra area the week before we are attending the Chev festival and then going up to Bundaberg for a few days.
Looking forward to meeting some more great people, and catching up with a few we have already met.
