My kidneys wouldnt survive that many cartons. Sounds like a great trip. depending on what day you are headin out or warrnabool i might "intercept' the road train and roll into Blue lake van park with ya's I should be on that stretch of road monday 17th in the "A.M". Hi Geoff & Jude, I would love to join up with you guys from the Thursday night if possible. Although im living in Sydney this year, by that time i should be back home in sunny Melb! Although i don't want you to feel you have to make any more changes to the itinery!!!! Blairgowrie or Rye would be a beautiful spot to stay on the forshore. From there you could leave the vans for the morning and do a quick trip up Artuhurs Seat as Will suggested as it is just beautiful. Plenty of wineries, strawberry farms and the like which would make a great quick trip prior to hooking up and crossing the bay to Queensclif! Just a suggestion but thought it would be worthwhile! Cheers J-Rod

hi jrod
no problems joining up with us on thurs night, we'll book you in.
the suggestion regarding staying at rye or blairgowie isn't possible.
i rang about 10 van parks between sorrento and rosebud this morning and they couldn't cater for the number of vans on the tour. they have added permanent cottages for peak season rentals and only have 3 or 4 sites for travelling vans.
the council foreshaw parks require pre-applications and sites are 'issued' on a ballot basis, we can't wait that long for the ballot to be drawn. (spent too long and too many phone calls finding all that out).
hence, we are at flinders, only about a half hour drive to the ferry.
if people want to tour the area that's not a problem at all, but then they have to find their own way to apollo bay - no big deal.

Hi Geoff, Jude and all other VV Mount Meanderers, After consultation with the accountant and director of tourism and domestic affairs, it has been decided that we will join the road train as it passes through Gippsland (namely Traralgon - which, by the way is a great central stop off for lunch or a cuppa at least) this means our first night will be Flinders. The missus will ring Apollo bay to book tomorrow. I decided that our soon-to-be 5 year old could miss a couple of days of school - she is bound to get a lot better 'life education' out of a couple of days of VV road tripping! So you have now all been forwarned! two little VVers will be on the Meander (4 years and 5 years old respectively). ;D No stress, our little one knows at the end of a long day we tend to feel 'knackered' . We will now start to count down the days, or 'sleeps' as they billylids like to put it. In summary: The Tinnie tribe will join in from Traralgon (middle of Lakes Entrance to Flinders) for the meander! Cheers, :DTinnie

Hi all,
I definitely wont be able to make it to the mount due to too many other committments for this year and next but I would like to join the group for Thursday (Flinders) till Sunday (Warrnambool) as I will only need 1 1/2 days off work. I assume Myrtle will get back from Darwin ok of course.
I am willing to make my own bookings at the 3 parks if I am still able to join in.
Please advise if this is ok, I dont want to stuff up your plans.
Anyway the teardrop is very small, perhaps I can park under one of the others and it wont be noticed too much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
cheers for now,
Leigh.

hi leigh
we can't see a problem with you joining up but we're still waiting to hear from the apollo bay park about the 20 sites, all the rest are ok for 20.
don't book yourself in yet, we're sure they'll be ok and you can join the group at flinders.
keep an eye on the posts over the next few days for confirmation of the 20 sites at all the van parks. if it's all good we'll put you on the list, okey dokey!! (same goes for anyone else thinking of joining the meander - Richard & margarete).

hi all there's good news and bad news. ;D ;D the good news first! ;D ;D ;D ALL the parks have now extended the confirmed reserved sites to 20 as of this morning. so richard and margarete have been included to start at coledale and leigh and karon (sportsman1) have been included to start from flinders. here's the current lineup (again) starting from coledalegeoff and jude (geoff&jude) dennis and sue watts (jailbar) peter and denise taylor (humpty) will and lyn (will and lyn) john and carol (spyder) brian and julee john (globetrotter) don and carol (card711) cobber and yvonne (cobber) colin and sue alan and jenny (marvin) richard and margarete - 12 vans total starting from bermaguikingy and mary ann (kingy) - 13 vans total starting from flindersjarrod ellis (j-rod) mark and tanya grist (tinnie) leigh and karon (sportsman1) - 16 vans total this means that there are 4 spots left for the tour. we can't extend beyond the 20 sites, so once it's up to 20 for the last few parks, that will be the lot. if others (beyond the 20) want to do the tour with us, that's ok but you will need to make your own arangements regarding accommodation. (for the last 3 nights - there will be spare sites for the first 3 nights). don't forget, if you are booked on the tour, you need to pay deposits at some of the parks. mention you are with the vintage van group. contact phone numbers are listed on the itinerary (page 2, reply #26). so much for the good news. here's the bad news. there's still another 254 days before we meet at coledale on the 10th march. one other thing - if you haven't already given us the info, can you PM your email address and mobile number to us please. geoff 'n jude

Well said JBJ thanks to Geoff & Jude for all their efforts - we Grist's are certainly counting down the days This poor little Mexican is putting away a few pennies each week for the trip! Luckily life is cheap here in Mexico, some beans for dinner and a little grass to fuel the donkey ;D ;D. You are right JBJ, don't need a fist full of cash - life is about how you spend what you do have, and our most important asset is time! Maybe that's why we all living in the past. ;D ;D Lookin forward to meeting everyone en-route to the Mount! Cheers, 8-)Gristy

hi all
it seems that some of you are having problems with the attachment to an email we sent you.
don't know why, we sent one to geoff's work and it was ok.
maybe we use a later version of word (office 2005) than you have at home.
will hand out hard copies once we all get to coledale in march.
sorry about that.

hi all ;D ;D ;D ;D in seven months time (213 days to be exact) we'll all be sitting around at coledale having a beer or wine and getting ready to start the "meander" in the morning. can't wait for that. oh, and in 2 months (and a bit) we'll also all be sitting around at coledale having a beer or wine with 40 or 50 other vintage vanners. can't wait for that either. oh, oh, and in a months time judy, myself and two other van loads will be sitting around at coledale having a beer or wine while the APEC dramas go on in sydney. not long for this one so can't wait for that either. meanwhile, i thought i'd mention that there are still 3 or 4 places available on the "meander to the mount", so if you're interested in joining up please send us an email or a pm. happy vanning, geoff 'n jude

Hi Reddo,
Thanks for the link to all the info. Sounds like a great idea. I'll have to work at convincing Alan !!!!!!
Geoff and Jude,
We will already by in Albury (14th - 16th) for Chyslers on the Murray, so if we do decide to go to Mount Gambier, we won't join you all on the meander from Coledale, we would just go straight to Mount Gambier, no doubt arriving on 17th.
Only 10 more sleeps till East Coast Tour !!!! ;D ;D ;D
Thanks n regards Diane
