Well done Dirk for taking on this most worthy project.
Thanks also to Max (Winterwood) for initially saving it for the future.
Great to see a sole survivor of its make is going to be restored.
Dirk, why not bring it over to Cora Lynn and put it on display for the weekend?
cheers, Leigh.

Great idea Leigh ... it could be good for people to have a "before/after" viewing. Unfortunately I couldn't do the "after" part of the equation.
Max .... (Anon former owner).

Thank you all for your words of encouragement, I am looking forward to getting her home where I can do a close inspection to evaluate the task at hand and begin my plan of attack, as for bringing her to Cora Lynn for before and after viewing, well that's another story ,I will elaborate further sometime over the weekend on that with another post. Derk.

Okay so here goes, last year I found myself the rear section of an FJ Ute that had been used as a trailer, this was the sort of project that I was wanting to build, I made the owner an offer which was accepted and I brought it home. When I spoke of it at my car club and told them of my plans it was decided that I should bring it along to Cora Lynn last year so that the public could see what we start with. It is now completed and will be at Cora Lynn this year, you can check it out here, vintagecaravans.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=photo&action=display&thread=4782Now this is where it gets interesting, I turn up at the gate last year and the first thing the **** on the gate, lets call him a bloke for now, says "What the hell is that, I'm not having that on my oval" no inquiry as to the reason behind bringing it or the intention of having it there, and was virtually told to take it home or I could leave it up on the hill so I chose to leave it up on the hill. I left a notice on it explaining to the public that this was my new project and asked if there was anyone who could help me out with a tailgate, I also wrote down the rego No of my car should someone wish to talk to me needless to say there was total silence which I put down to the fact nobody even knew it was there, later in the day I noticed that there were a couple of cars gone and I was able to bring it down off the hill and drag it by hand round to my car (luckily for me there was a break in the fence right behind my car) and place it where it rightfully belonged, by this stage it was after lunch and in the afternoon I had many people come over to me and ask about my plans and wishing me luck and I'm hoping that these same people will be there again this year to see the result of my work, so having said all that I don't think that I will be bringing it along to Cora Lynn and I doubt that I ever will bring anything along for "Before & After" viewing, I will only bring along the after version and let the public remain ignorant as to what we start with because this seems to be the attitude of the bloke? on the gate, if anyone out there knows the bloke? on the gate and I've offended him then good because he offended me last year by being ignorant

Dirk, Pity to let "the Bloke" win by not taking another "project". I can understand your feelings but? ? Some years ago the Vauxhall C**b put a display in the Classic Car Show at the Exhibition buildings. We had a theme of "Before, during and after". Three 1938 sedans, last one fully restored in a picnic setting, middle one set up in a garage up on stands with a dummy working on it (no, not me), and the first one a total rusty wreck taken straight from a paddock to the Exhibition Buildings complete with various brands of "no 2's, weeds, etc. What do you reckon the guard at the door said when we got there? We eventually got permission to bring it in and park it on a tarp, which we covered in dirt and other rubbish to complete the scene. It was the hit of the show and we won the trophy for the best C**b Stand. At the end of the day it is up to you to do what is best for you. Looking forward to seeing you there. Cheers, Leigh.
