;D
Hi All
Just got home from a great day out.
Over 600 cars mustered at the local shopping centre by 9.00am today..
A real "Mixed bag" of cars.... Old fire engines, tipping body trucks from the 40's, just about every car club within 100 miles where there ...
A complete contrast to trhe usual "One breed " bog stock car runs we see most days...
Rat rods, Hot rods, customs," rare as" vintage stuff, .......cool as...
Just cant understand why some pimply faced adolescents think that a late model commy with the back seat removed and massive sound system stuck in its place gives them free passage to turn up and make communication between people with normal speech dang near impossible while the blow the door trims of their late model shitboxes.
After all the whole day is centred around the cars... not the bloody doof doof they belch out.....
Fortunately there was more than one of us that had the same train of thought and the threat of getting his hair parted with a wheel brace was enough to make him turn the crap down... not off..... just down... that was all we asked....
Anyway back to the script..
On wednesday Trish and i done a 2 hour scoot up to Wingham near Taree NSW... to check out a FB sedan i had spotted on car point . End result , old Joyce agreed to my offer and i drove it home in torrential rain ....I reckon i could count the number of times the wipers completed a full sweep of the windscreen on one hand... God bless vacumn wipers.
Trish followed me home in the Chev ute.
The old stocker FB seemed happy at 55 mph and i figured it would have enough grunt to lug the TD on todays winter wander.. so we hitched her up and set off around 8.00am today...
light drizzle on the way to the shops....the rest of the day was good.
around 600 cars set off on a short 90K run to the vineyards..
Here's a few of the entrants...
A 1914 Vauxhall racer "50 Bob" alloy body,,
Dont see too many thunderbird woody hearses do ya....
A nice line up of 40s and 50s classics....
A replica of Bruce Mc Phees racing FC .. owned by Phill Illfield.
A car has gotta be straight to paint it black.... this one was real tidy..
..
But... then again .. ya can paint anything black and it will stand out....
The host club had judges out during the day and they had to award 15 "Certificates of Merit" to cars/ displays that stood out from the rest...
These cars where called out at the end of the day and asked to park up in a special area where the judges picked the top 3 from the 15.
I was stoked when the FB and TD got picked in amongst the 15 and was awarded a cerificate and a beaut brass grille badge ;D
...
Didnt make it to the top 3 ... but was wrapped to think that i had stuck vintage vanning in the face of so many car club members and made the members of the public aware of what a great hobby we have..
