Hi Yellowuki. Yep,not bad eh. Has some history according to MVCA (military vehicles collectors aust). One of five built with these specs (not the motor or wheels) & has other data/inclusions. #1 is in Qld. I have #2. It is believed that at least one possibly two may still be out there.Or not. At least now i`ll be able to tow the Td without worrying about the strain i would ordinarily be putting on the dak dak. And besides, the dak has no hope in hell of towing any of my trailers. So its found a new home too. cheers

Hi Yellowuki. Worth the price of the tyres alone!! 33 x 12.5 50R 15LT Mongrels/sunnies. Too big for my liking though. Bigger than the ones i had on my other forby. So will change to standards. And will lower her to std hight also.cheers gordon

Hey Gordon
Another closet Landy admirer here
Many years ago had a stationwagon series 3 Imported from Suth Afrika Took about two years to fix it up.... Yep they are as tough as old boots
Mind you Landrovers don't have speedos.... They have calenders ;D ;D ;D ;D
Hope you have a set of earmuffs Looking at the size of the luggs on those tyres ;D ;D ;D
It'll take you anywhere.... just not quickly

Hi Atog. Not in a hurry anymore. Will miss the dak dak but thats ok. It went to a great known home. Got a few good mentions from the ozzie landy/ military owners sites. Its a quite known vehicle apparently. Once i sort the fiddly bits its back to the Td, particularly as i`m heaps more mobile (leg wise). Btw, your `vans looking sweet as. Love the shelving glass. Nice twist with the gold motif in the corners. cheers gordon

Hi Gordo... Its seems you are drawing a few landy lovers out of the closets. I bought a 1967 series 2A SWB ( first of the headlights in the gaurds )... for $250 back in the mid 80s. Had a dud piston in the old 4 banger . Threw a new piston in.. recoed the head and drove it all up and down the NSW coast 4 up. Me and the missus in the front. the 2 boys.. then 4 and 7 years old strapped in the back in a forward facing seat with full seat belts etc. Camping gear packed all around them and up to the roof . Happy at 50MPH all day long with the occassional squirt up to 60... but never for more than a minute. Towed a lightweight fold out canvas camper and set up on the beach on many occasions. Sold that and progressed to 1975 LWB Panelvan with 245 hemi 6 and salsbury diff. Towed a FULL SIZE 15ft Viscount van over stockton beach sandhills on a few occasions. Vvvvvvvvvvvvveeerrryyyyy Torquey, Use to have sticker on the dash... "All conversation will resume when speed drops below 35mph".... gottta love those straight cut gears and bar tread tyres on the highway ;D Had a brand new Fairy overdrive in a box while i owned both vehicles .. but never got around to fitting it to either of them. I know of a fully restored "cab over" Landy for sale. Ex Radio truck similar to Shultzys Blitz except converted to camper in the back. Immaculate vehicle and...... very... very.. very.... local... as in the same town. Just cant bring myself to slow down in my senior years... seem ta wanna go faster every time i get behind the wheel lately. Now that i am a man of leisure i might find time ta stick my head in the landy owners shed and reel off some happy snaps. Reddo

Hi Reddo. Yeah, big change for me as such. The bug used to pull 125kph (nicely worked twin port),the 186 landy`l only pull 80/90 i guess. The bug had sweet kyb suspension while this has 'coney island' bump & grind. But this is what i wanted & i`m happy. Swapped over to std landy wheels earlier tonight. Phew, glad thats done. Looks more the part now albeit still looking a wee bit high on tyre/guards clearance.cheers gordo

Hi Dave. For me it`s a case of back to school - old school. So she runs a 186,easy. Ciggy paper for (new) points gap, worn hacksaw blade for (new) plugs gap.New leads.Pulled down the ol`Stromby & rebuilt better than new today - nix. Have a box of gaskets, needles etc. 3 beers later it`s done. They want $400+ for a "new" refurb.Yeah right!! Just because the names not Billy doesn`t mean i`m silly. Full set of new lens (8), $46 the lot delivered! Two great 2nd hand tyres $40 the pair! Canopy? I`m working on a canvas job at the moment. Lwb windowed h/top i can get delivered $450.(later prob).Electronic ignition, nos & bench tested to boot & delivered $120. New pair door locks $30. Laughing? You bet i am. cheers gordon

Gday Gordon, Great to see another vintage van devotee brave enough to tow a teardrop with an ex military vehicle ;D ;D, I have never been a great fan of the Recycled SPITFIRES ;D due to experiences in the ARMY and unfortunately having to often work on them as a civvy , but they did a sterling service in the vietnam conflict and are a legend. Anyways enough rambling for the moment and congrats. Schultzy.

Hi Schultzy. Would love to have a Blitz but just a tad too excy for my hip pocket. So the 'compact' version will have to suffice for now.And i must say (incl yours) they pair up very nicely. cheers gordon

Hi F/f. Nice looking unit. Camper body would`ve been based on army ambo design as per Pressed Metals. Used to deal with them on a regular basis in the 60`s. (bus/truck builders). Here`s my tag : cheers gordon
