Hi everyone just a short note about Coldedale 2006. I towed my 18 1/2 foot Fairland Caravan into Coledale on Thursday arvo and was greated with a warm welcome from Mr FJ55 (maurie) who guided me while i backed into position. From the moment i set up i had a absolute ball. I had one of the best weekends with a great ocean view from my four seat kitchen table. My daughter and I became great friends with many people in fact to many to list. I i did not have a powered site so i was greeted with a cold beer from JBJ and "Earlee". Friday was a great day with the east coast spring tour arriving but the weather was very windy. The camp fire later that night was over early due to a southerly wind that arrived all of a sudden and every one scrambled to their vans some to make sure their annex was still there. A few people in their lighter vans prayed they did not get blown over. Tickets were sold all day saturday and the raffle was drawn on saturday night at hawaiian night. Will and Lyn did a great job with karoke and im sure that everyone had a great night. I went to to local markets on sunday morning and was sad to pack up sunday arvo to return home to go back to work on monday. I cannot wait to Coledale 2007. There is so much more to talk about but i sure all the other great people there can add their 2 bobs worth .Hope to see you there in 2007 Cheers Chippydave.

Hi All reddo, Trish and joel here. Got home around 3 today./.. sunday.
What can i say ....great tour. Froze our nuts off at Lithgow. Day two was Hot laps around mount panorama with vans swinging off the back of the cars, sniff around the old goldmining town of sofala. Up through mudgee to Gulgong and the pioneer museum. walk out the museum and the local posty steered cobber & Yvonne as well as me in tow around to a rare vint van. unfortunetly a bit sad but very unusual design. English i reckon Every day we where given leads on old vans. A 14' bondwood at Muswellbrook, a 12 foot bondy in Bathurst. A Sunliner in Orange. Keen eye kaybee spotted an old van on its own in a paddock near Merriwa. Bought 9 cars to a halt while a search party went out to inspect it.
Vintage tin and van hunting, antique and bric a brac shops everyday. Party every night. Dunedoo tues night. over to glenbawnn dam on wednesday. BBQ here in newy thursday and picked up my missus and Joel as well as humpty and his wife Denise hoping on the end of the vintage van snake that wound its way around lake macquarie to Swansea van park on the edge of the lake. A beautiful sunset with all the crew spell bound by the yellows and reds on the water. Up friday and off through sydney. greeted by the Tickos, earlee, mr FJ maurie for an escort down the mountain and along that fantastic sea bridge to Coledale. Hollywood Kaybees made the saturday Mercury with a great picture of him and Kris "Hangin Out" of thier teardrop. Great feed and a ridiculous night of Kareoke. Some low life stole my old malleys esky sometime after we went to bed. Will has mentioned a few stuff ups with cars and vans but nothing ... i mean nothing stood in the way of a great tour and a great weekend that was "Coledale 2006".
Ya just dont get friendship anywhere in the world like that of vintage van owners.. FACT.
See seperate post for details of website fundraiser raffle.

Ah Yes, A great weekend. From the moment we arrived there were friendly fellow vintage vaners on hand to make us welcome. This was the first time we have used the little Pixie. Parked next to chippydave his van made the Pixie look tiny. Will & Lyn were great........Thankyou.... Who would forget Reddo proposing with a milk create on his head (you had to be there to understand it)...Thanks Reddo.. Saturday night meal was great value & enjoyed by all. Then on Sunday the visiting car clubs filled the roadway. It was vintage vans, vintage cars with lots of happy people. All this by the sea, yes it was COLD on Saturday & rainy at times but what a great weekend. FC Driver

I've already made plans to make sure I'm at Coledale again in 2007. What a fantastic weekend! Had no car problems on the way there and arrived safely back home ;D... I won't however mention the wet bed which occured enroute to Coledale however... I'm sure someone will... bugger off Bigdidda I Could not have wished to meet a nicer group of people. I really cannot think of everybody I met but, Kaybee 1 & 2 , Reddo and family, Mrfj55, Cobber, Will and Lyn, HDTodd, Chippydave and the Ticko's... You all made it a great weekend! Friday upon arrival I was greeted by many friendly faces and lots of curious onlookers on Saturday and Sunday to keep us on our toes Friday night was a bit of a concern as that southerly wind abruptly arrived and jostled my Teardrop all night but, I managed to fall asleep eventually! Look forward to doing it all again Greg

We had a great time also, good to meet old friends & meet & put faces to names from the forum.
A great effort by all who made the trek from far of places.
We made it up Mount Ousley, got hot about half way up & had to cool it down with the ice water from the esky.
Looking forward to next year, plus anything that comes up during the year if we can make it.
Trust all have and will arrive home OK.
cya next time, Gary & Debbie

Hi Guys, I'd also like to say what a great time I had at Coledale. I was up at 4 on Friday morning trying to get the van finished and I nearly did apart from a few small things but the van still made it there. Even though the weather wasn't the best it was good to meet everyone and to see so many vintage vans in the one place and Sunday was really impressive when the FX/FJ and FE/FC clubs came down. I don't think I've ever seen so many cars and people at Coledale. Here are some group shots

A few more pitchus, I can only agree with the sentiments already expressed...I don’t care what anybody says, it was the “Reddos East Coast Spring Tour” , he did it all, came up with the idea... planned it all...led the way ...and provided a lot of the entertainment each night....and ' at the end of the tour he gave us another tour of “The shed of invention” AND provided a BBQ lunch at his home.... AND run a raffle at Coledale to raise money for the Forums maintenance and modification........the man’s a legend. Maybe there were times he needed to sit down. The Saturday night spit roast organised by “The Tickos” and their friends, followed by the Karaoke... courtesy of Will and Lyn who brought their very professional equipment and expertise all the way from Western Australia (can you believe that ? ) was a great hit with everybody. Sunday morning somebody tried to “organise” a group photo opportunity, most of us got there. In the background are a couple of cars from the 48 & FJ Holden car club and the beautiful beach and ocean adjacent to “The Coledale Caravan Park” Norm, the parks manager, tells me he could fit at least another 20 caravans on the site...so next year we should be aiming for 51 Vintage Caravans at Coledale, eh? I do have a few more photos of the run, and Coledale, 166 in fact so more may appear later. Cobber.

OK so I'm a bit slow just like the Austin. Except for a couple of unscheduled stops to cool a petrol pump made it there and back. To everybody i met, thank you for making this one of the best weekends i have ever had. The vans were fantastic, the people magnificent and the site absolutely first class. Since i had never been to anything like this before,I now intend to make the Coledale trip an annual event. Once again thanks for a fabulous weekend and we cant complain about the weather really can we.
don
ps see Greg got through it without mentioning the incontinent p**** p****. ;D And by the way thanks mate for your help on the trip down.

Hi V V ers Finally got the three vans home and back into storage. Another great Coledale weekend, even my brother who stayed in my blue van over the weekend, could not belive the number of people that came to look at the vans. Even had a mention on WIN news tonight with about a 30 second segment showing a few vans. Photo taken on Sunday just before the weather started to warm up. Cheers. Trodler.

What a great weekend, we arrived Thursday to be greeted by Morrie and an incredibly friendly and funny 6 days for us began. One of the highlights for us was the run up to Waterfall with Tickos, Earlee and Morrie to meet the East Coast Tourers and escort them back to Coledale. What a procession it was, Morries FJ, Tickos Chev, Earlees Bash Holden and our Crown Vicky followed by all the amazing cars & vans that made up the East Coast Tour - it sure turned heads.
We would both like to thank everyone for making us welcome as it was our first V V adventure and certainly won't be our last. Ah but the V V disease spreads!!! Geoff would now like another van - something smaller and lighter, as well as Ducky (the ugly duckling), Geoffs brother who spent Saturday night with us found a couple of old interesting vans around Berry yesterday and is keen to buy one of them and Andy (the caterer) is also on the hunt - and so the movement grows.
We left Coledale on Tuesday morning, (the only one left there from the group was Earlee), and headed home carrying some great memories of the weekend. The Victoria seemed to have a sympathy attack with Sugarshack, and after easily climbing the Bald Hill ascent, we turned into Lawrence Hargrave Drive, then about 100m from the top of the climb to Stanwell Tops, she gave a splutter or two, and stopped around a hairpin bend with the car on the dirt and the trailer hanging out across the road. Good old vapourisation and dirt in the Holley. (Maybe it's got something to do with pale blue classic cars). A couple of very kind locals helped Judy direct traffic while I cleaned the crap out of the fuel pump and the carby and attempted to get her started but to no avail. Eventually we were towed to the top of the hill by a concrete truck where after a cooling off period were back on our way. It was an interesting way to finish the weekend but didn't detract from the pleasure of meeting a great group of people and seeing some very fine old cars and vans. Don't know how to photobucket yet, but will post some Coledale photos when we learn how.
We were chatting to Norm on Tuesday morning before we left and it would appear EVERYONE has rebooked for next year - so roll on Coledale 2007.

Hi all Coledale dust has finally settled... DUST !!! what bloody dust Reddo it rained all weekend dont ya remember??? Finally managed to find time to get a few pichas... pigtchoos... um.. piklas...ummmm.....pickt...ummmm..... electronic images together. Just some of the raffle prizes early in mthe day. we ended up with another full table of goodies. Thanks heaps to everyone who donated to and bought tickets in the raffle. Not exactly V.V content but i had to giggle at the late model vespa with sidecar. I asked if it had a second motor on it to get him up Bulli Pass!!! Seen in the background. Kaybees, Chippydave on his pushy, Steve and maryanne King ticket sales where brisk all day. The flag tells you that there was a strong southerly blowing all day with temps in the mid teens. Bloke buying tickets off me had a pile of EK bits. morrie and i done a rid on him sunday morning scored a few NOS parts as well as an EK van top tailgate . He's got a nice little unrestored bug eyed sprite stuffed under his house as well. Looking north. Bigdidda Don, Vee dub nut, Chippy dave, Kingys, Cliff , trodler and the list goes on. Lookin north outta the SLSC window. MrFj55, reddo, carapark, tickos,spyder,humpty... and a string of sunliners. I copped rotten eggs, spittin' and abuse everytime i went passed the fibreglass brigade. Even Humptys dog tried to wee on my leg. Jeez there a nasty lot those Sunliner crew. Lucky to get away with my life!!!... Dunno what i have done to upset them Belind, Rod and the Kids rocked in with thier colourfull van and annexe. Note the mini witches hats on the annexe pegs. Us drunks really appreciate them when we head to the toilet at night. I suggested to Belinda that she put candles in side them... would look great at night until they caught alight and melted A tough W.A ute hanging with Earlees outrageous 6 wheeler holden ute. The b&S boys and gals would love it. Not quite sure what this bloke was doin with flowers in his hair I think he was proposing to Trish.. singing "You are my sunshine, My only sunshine. " Finished off the act by handing her a rose and asking her to hold him like a flower... By the stalk Hey Surferboy......Check out the yellow and blue Ockernuies .I got 'em at Lithgow st Vinnies for $3.00. 6 sizes too small On the way home we stopped for a wee break. Came outta the toilets and "matilda " had met up with a coupla Gypsyies. had to convince her she was too young to run away on her own. Thats Coledale 2006 overwith for me folks. 31 vans Great effort . I am sure we will get more next year . Like Jeff and Jude has said... " The Vint Van desease is spreading". I can see no known cure... and i hope no one ever invents one ;D. Trish and i are heading off up around port stephens on November 17th for a quiet weekend..... Staying in Bondwood luxury of course After which we will be Setting our sights on 2007 Motorfest, Munmorah and wintersun and anywhere else that you lot wanna suggest... hmmmm gunna havta start putting the bucks away for Mt Gambier 2008. wouldn't miss it for quids. Reddo , Reddoess and redjunior.

Hi Everyone! Touring from Lithgow to Coledale in vintage vans has to be the greatest experience anyone could hope to have! Great people to meet, great scenery, good roads, and a fabulous itinerary by Reddo made the whole trip a happy and memorable experience! Sitting around the BBQ at Dunedoo was a highlight after a full days drive through Bathurst, (with a swag of old cars and vintage caravans careering their way around the Mt Panorama circuit, dropping down Skyline at a sometimes alarming pace! and finally cruising down Conrod Straight, watching out for the radar trap. Next to Sofala for great pies and coffee, then a quick stop in Mudgee to top up our supplies, then on to Dunedoo to set up camp for the night. It was our first taste of warm ,sunny weather, and everyone made a quick change into shorts and Teeshirts. Will & Lyn had trouble getting gas, and still hadn't arrived by nightfall. We were all getting a bit concerned, when suddenly, the roar of the big F100 could be heard coming down the main street of the otherwise quiet Dunedoo(except for the trains-thanks Reddo!) and the crowd cheered!! and gave them a standing ovation as they rolled in. We were all together again! The colourful circus procession of cars and vans was ready to hit the road to Lake Glenbawn the next day.( But not before a quick scout around for some Holden parts for the Expand-A-Van of Sutcac.) Once again Col's eagle eye had spotted an EH in a back paddock across the road from the caravan park, and with a Bathurst like pit stop, we were off and running again. After a pleasant night at Lake Glenbawn, we headed to the coast via Reddo's for a great BBQ lunch, a drive around Lake Maquarie, and finally to Swansea. A few drinks by a magic red sunset over the Lake completed the day. The trip to Coledale had a couple of hiccups, however , with a quick change of car, we made it to the beach side park by 9pm, to be greeted by our fellow travellers, and a quick drink by the camp fire, until the southerly buster literally busted in, scattering burning embers, hats, and anything else in its way that wasn't tied down!(PS Did you find your hat, Maurie?) Thanks to Will& Lyn for the Saturday night entertainment, and to everyone who organised the lovely dinner, and to all our new friends for being as crazy as we are. Thanks again to Reddo for his organisational skills, and preparation of maps etc. We will post some photos separately, as we are still trying to figure out photo bucket. Wayne & Sharon

Hey Reddo,i think the guy on the vespa was one of Mauries mates who came down from Sydney.Just as he was leaving i pulled up next to him on my pushy and asked him for a run...he bailed out on me...he knew I WOULD HAVE HAD HIM. As for Mr get a life... you are an absolute credit to the vintage van movement. While everybody else mingled, went to the club, walked the beach, rode their pushy you and your family stayed rock solid selling tickets holding the fort flying the Aussie flag.Your a true champion and a pleasure to know. Cheers Dave
