Hi Kel,
Nothings been organised as such, but a few of us will be staying at Kirra Beach Caravan Park, as happens most years.
We'll be there Thursday to Monday. Hopefully the damaged front guard on my rod will be repaired before the event, or I'll be sitting it out again on the sidelines.

Hi Kel,
Wintersun car events basically start the second weekend, but things do happen in the earlier days.
Friday night, Saturday day & night, & Sunday day & night are pretty well the extent of car stuff & street music.
Pretty well the whole guard will be resprayed. Its got a lot of paint & clear on it, & its cracked over a large area, so it will need to be stripped back & fresh skim coat of filler put on for repair.
Times like this Shannons come out as being good insurers to have. I nominate my own repairer, no competitiuve cut throat quoting on the job, so it can be repaired properly.

Hi Sutcac.
I pulled up in the caravan parking space at a roadside stop near Maclean, went to the loo & came back, & that had happened inside less than 5 minutes. Looks like someone dragged a van or trailer diagonally across the front, without stopping & seeing what they did. As usual, no one came over & told me they saw what happened.
Now loks like my panel beater is about to get flooded in Lismore, so repairs wont be likely to be done for Wintersun.
Its only a car panel. No real consequence . I'll just put my disply sign in front of it if I have to.

Hi JBJ "Its only a car panel. No real consequence . I'll just put my disply sign in front of it if I have to." Dont worry about the ding. We have a saying in the bike fraternity "Some of my best trophies are stone chips and bent handlebars" Hope this crap weather sorts itself out for the upcoming QLD events. I am heading to Sawtell for a Vintage bike rally June longweekend. Always a bung fight riding around on pot holed roads after heavy rain. Reddo

Hi All, It appears as though quite a few of us are going to Wintersun again this year - me included It also sounds as though accom. wise we will be far flung i.e. not just staying at the caravan park at Kirra but also staying at various units up and down the coast. Therefore catching up with anyone will be hit and miss, unless we are lucky enough to bump into each other on the street. Soooooooooooooooooo how about arranging a get together over coffee/tea at one of the cafe's??? I realise that the cafe's will be very busy on the Saturday and Sunday, so how about meeting on the Friday. Or still making it Saturday and putting up with the crowds or going somehwere like Twin Towns that has a large seating area. So what do you think? I'm open to suggestions. Regards Di

Hi Tarsha, Anyone can attend Wintersun, as its an event for everyone. However, if you havent entered before end of march generally you wont get a chance to display your car in the display areas, Likewise if you havent booked into the nearby to Coolangatta caravan parks by now, you might find it hard to get a site close to the action. But ring & try to book as there always are cancellations. If you go to www.wintersun.org.au, you will be able to find out what the event is about. A lot of us attend, & stay all over the place. A few of us will be at the Kirra Beach Caravan Park, which is pretty central to the event. Others will at other parks/private accommodation. If you get to look into Kirra caravan park, look for the red & cream ply van "Lucille", with a black & white Sunliner next to it. Thats our setup, & anyone is welcome to call in & say hello. We love meeting newerr Forum members, & talking vintage vanning. Could be hard to find us, cause we will be doing a lot of cruising & displaying of my hotrod. We'll be there pretty well from Wednesday arvo till Monday morning. Regarding a general get together, I think that will be next to impossible, because of the extremely diverse nature of Wintersun, & the spread of accommodation. I also know that most of us that can recognise each other,( even if like me you forget peoples names all the time)seem to find one another during the event. My Hot rod will be in Sat & Sun night cruises, with a few different drivers, & on display in Marine Parade on Sat & Sun ( Hopefully nothing will break this year). Look for the Jailbar pickup in green & silver metalflake, with the big dent in the LH front mudguard corner. Its all fun JBJ

Hi everyone,
Ok, so coffee and a catchup. ;D
As most people will be in town on the Saturday and will no doubt be ready for a break from all the crowds and all the walking around by the afternoon. How about we make it 3.00pm. That way we should miss the lunchtime crowd.
I have a couple places in mind.
I will be flying up to Wintersun tomorrow, so will check out the places on Thursday and then log on and give you the info.
See you soon Di

For those heading to Wintersun on saturday morning if you want to see a good group of cars the Sunbeam Car Club are holding their National Meet at the Radison Resort. Meadows Drive, Carrara. The show and shine is being held between 10am and 12 md at the resort or oposite in the golf club car park. Apparently there are 10 Sunbeam V8 Tigers (Maxwell Smart Cars) attending from around Aust plus the 4 cyl version the Alpine, plus Talbots and a rare Sunbeam Talbot Lotus. I'll be dragging the race Sunbeam Rapier Fastback down on the car trailer for the morning but the Tigers are the cars to appreciate, especially a recently restored rarer Mkii version Rod G.

Hi All, Ok so this is the go for coffee on Saturday. 3.00pm at Twin Towns. On the 1st Floor is the Flame Cafe. If you order your coffee/cakes/food etc etc there. Then opposite the Flame Cafe is the Family Room where we should be able to sit. Lisbeth at Twin Towns is going to kindly supply me with some reserved signs so hopefully we should all be able to sit and have a chat without fighting for tables. See you then Di P.S. Already having a ball !!!!!
