Hi all,
Recently stayed at the Glen Cromie Caravan Park at 850 Main Neerim rd, Drouin South and have booked for the Vintage Tragics to have a weekend camp.
They have a few weekends a year when they have some special events on so we took advantage of that and have booked for the weekend of the 14th and 15th of August. (Friday and Saturday)
They have a Kids Circus on where your kids can join in and be part of the Circus fun. Also there will be a bonfire and fireworks.
The Park was ringed by the recent fires with some minor damage sustained but it is in a terrific spot on the river and should be a good spot for a weekend of fun. Owners Charlie and Karen are keen for us to attend and to see our vans. We have booked 10 sites but can organise more if needed, please ring and book direct on 03 5626 8212
As it is a special weekend a 2 night minimum stay applies but this can be either Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday.
We will book for a meal on the Friday night at the Pub in Drouin, it was good tucker and reasonably priced.
Look forward to seeing you all there.
Cheers, Leigh & Karon.

I hope all you Vic Vanners (and interstate visitors of course) have noted our next weekend camp and have rung and booked your spot at Glen Cromie.
For anyone coming on the Friday who wants to join in on the Pub meal please let us know here (or by PM) numbers so we can book you in.
See you all soon, Leigh & Karon.

Hi all,
I have just spoken to Karen at Glen Chromie and all looks good for a terrific weekend at Drouin South.
The bonfire is on for Saturday night but unfortunately they have not been able to get a permit for the fireworks.
We have 9 vans booked at present but they have room for more so dont be shy. We are booked into one area together but due to the large amount of rain they have experienced lately we may need to be shuffled around a little to avoid the wettest areas. As they have fire bins available in the park I suggest bring along some firewood to share so we can keep warm over the weekend.
I have only got 2 people so far that have let us know about going to the pub on Friday night. I was going to make a booking for 7.00 or 7.30 depending on who is going. (We probably wont be there till around this time) Please let us know if you want to join us for a meal.
If you cant make it for the whole weekend please feel free to drop in and say hello and share a drink with us if you can.
By the way, in case you did not know Glen Chromie is the oldest caravan park in Victoria!
Cheers for now, Leigh & Karon.

Hi Sportsman1 and other travellers to Glen Cromie,
Good to see another V V outing happening. Unfortunately I will be an apology (again). At this point I expect to be in Dubbo that weekend for work.
As it happens I have some strong memories of the Glen Cromie caravan park. I actually lived in our caravan at Glen Cromie for 10 weeks in mid-1975 when I was undertaking a research project in the area. Those were the days when it actually rained in Gippsland (and other parts of Victoria) and gumboots were mandatory for the intrepid caravanner wanting to trek across to the facilities.
Ah, happy days...
I trust you all have a great time. One of these days I won't have a clash with the V V weekends and will actually be able to come. Yeah, yeah, I know - I need to take the bull by the horns and organise a weekend when I am free! ;D ;D ;D
By the way, Leigh, tell us more about Glen Cromie being the oldest caravan park. When was it established?
Don Ricardo

To all those who may visit for the day on Saturday, can we maybe get some idea of a time so that we may all arrive/be there around the same time as I would like to visit but for me it would be early afternoon, it would be good to meet some of my neighbors so to speak, I'm only about 20-30 minutes away so it would be rude of me not to show my face

Good idea humpyboy,
I will probably head out for a bit of a scrounge around the antique/junk shops on Sat morning but will plan to be back to meet the day trippers.
I will leave it to others to advise a time that will suit them, but I plan to be back by around 2.00pm at the latest.
see you there or be square!
Leigh.
