hi yall, the lovshack is back home in wa, sadly, :'(as life on the road is ab-so-lute-ly fabulous and can't recomend it highly enough, especially in a v.v we want to thank All the v.vanners we met in our travels around oz for the great times together and the memories that will last forever. ;D ;D ;D we hope to get to mildura next year and soak up the atmosphere of another get together ;D for those interested enough, we did 45,000 kms in the 12 months' ish and apart from the motor in the tojo throwing in the towell on day 2 of the trip, nothing else broke either on the car or van[ well one cupboard door hinge came loose after some rough nw qld roads]but what the hey!. just a tip tho, when towing your van don't forget that the extra weight needs to be compensated in extra tyre pressure being added [ should be around 50-60psi] good brand tyres are a must. i scrubbed the tyres out real soon in the trip cause they were cheapies that came with the rims and even when pumped up to 50psi still wore out [they lasted about 5,000ks] i thought i may have had them under inflated for the load, but no...they were crap tyres. when i put the some goodyears on, they lasted the other 40,000 and don't even look like they have any wear at all[ you get what you pay for i guess] so...thanks for the memories as they say and catch up soon dave and pat lovshack

Welcome home guys. Reading your post, so what should the tyre pressure be on light truck tyres for vvs in general?

Hi Pat & Dave, Sad to see you're home, but know that once it's in the blood, hitting the track again will be something you look forward to..... As far as tyre pressures are concerned, I agree with Dave.........I wore out some (brand new) light truck tyres on Madonna after 12,000kms and that didn't involve any off-road stuff. After some advice from a tyrefitter in Ballina before heading to Coledale last year, I fitted some 6 ply radials (I wasn't aware that you could get 6 & 8 ply radials), put 50psi in them and have reduced my swaying & tyre wear and increased my road speed by about 10kph. I have also been told by a number of sources, that you should avoid any tyres made in I.do.n.sia (my original LTs were) and try and buy tyres made in J.p.n (I'm not sure that we actually make tyres here in Oz any more ). The biggest issue with a lot of us v.vanners is getting decent 13" radials.......they're just unfashionable now , although they do leave a smaller carbon footprint This subject probably should be discussed in "Technical", but thanks for the advice anyway Dave. Hi Pat and Dave Good to hear you are home safe and experienced very little trouble for the 45 000klms.Thanks for the regular contacts regarding Olympics and it was nice to meet up with you both at Holmesville pub on your way to Coledale. I agree with you on tyres, tyre pressure is base on load being carried on a given tyre size. With our Olympic at around 1500kgs touring with 185x14 LT we have 50 psi (as per Tyre and Rim Association chart we carry all the time) and every thing works beautifully -- ride / towing / tyre wear. Cheers boblor

Hi Dave and Pat,
glad to hear you arrived home ok, We got a bit of an idea of what it is like out there on our Darwin trip. That only fuelled the desire for more. We are envious of your trip and hope to do likewise soon.
We enjoyed your fellowship at Blairgowrie and hope to catch up at Mildura.
Cheers, Leigh & Karon.

Dear Pat and Dave, It was lovely to catch up with you both at Coledale. I'm sure that you had a fantastic time on your trip around the country - 45,000kms is no small achievement. Glad to hear that you got back home in one piece. Kind regards Diane

Hi Pat and Dave , We saw you at Murray bridge and love your van. Glad the trip was completed safely. Jenette and I fly to Perth tommorrow for Army reunion so if you look closely you may see me in the Anzac day march. I dont have contact details and time will be scarce so we wont have the pleasure of your company unfortunately. regards to you both, Graham and Nette
