Hello all, Here are some photos of our new caravan: The inside seems mostly original, except for the curtains, carpet and table… The fridge came with the original manual and seems to work (on gas at least) It has some damage to the inside, though (see next photo) We’ll put up with it for now, but a new fridge may be coming sometime down the track. I’m currently in the middle of re-wiring the 12v tail and clearance lights. Everything was done in white wire, with no way to tell what was what – rather than spend a while with a multi-meter and long jumper leads, I just pulled the old stuff out and replaced with 5-core trailer wire! I’ll post some photos of the work later. Michael

The Panel Van isn't mine - it's just parked at the same place I'm getting the rego inspection done. I do have a 1966 40 series Landcruiser sitting in a friends shed that would tow it nicely... just needs registering (and de-rusting, engine rebuild, new seat belts, etc etc)...

another fine fibreglass van, that wont need much to be A1 , now you only have 3/4 other brands / style of glass van to collect. Me would like a 21 plus foot olympic, one day it will turn up hopefully at the right price, Cheers and enjoy Pymie

I got it home today from getting registered. I decided to try the fridge on gas (it had been working ok) - came out again half hour later to find smoke pouring out the door! The fridge has had a total meltdown - literally! Lucky it didn't burn the van to the ground! So looks like a new fridge is needed. Any recommendations for a 3-way fridge that will fit? I'll probably buy a new one (once bitten and all that...) and it needs to be able to run on gas (we often camp without 240v power).

Just got home last night from a 3 day, 800 km road trip around Tassy... over some of the worst dirt roads our little island has to offer. List of damages: 1. Most windows rattled open on a regular basis. 2. A couple of window latches broke their rivets and fell off. 3. Water container burst open inside van and thoroughly soaked the carpet. 4. Fly screen under the hatch broke it's hinges and fell off. 5. Bench over the stove broke off where it attaches to the slide. 6. Cracks appeared either side of the door where the top half of the body joins to the bottom half. Overall, not too bad for a 40 year old van that has only just been re-registered after many years. It'll take some sorting out, but it only takes time... The only one of these that really worries me are the cracks. I'm not sure if they were there before or not. I'll keep an eye on them and see if they get any bigger. Incidentally, if anyone has pay tv, keep an eye out for a show on History channel called Monster Quest. The episode is about a search for the Tasmanian Tiger. It should air in a few months time, and our Riviera features prominently

Hey Pricey Welcome to the Olympic family. ;D
To find the year of make - look under the A frame. There should be a number there. Usually under the drivers side.
Post it, and Boblor will give you an accurate month/year of manufacture.
By the single windows it does look pre 1969 All the best with the rebuild. Post up some photos as she is renewed.
Cheers Atog

Thanks Atog my rego states 68 I still think earlier. Sent a message to bob, maybe he hasnt seen it yet, I'll post it here. Bob the chassis number is 1335, so what year does that make it? I'm from Blackstone Heights in Tasmania, but plan on many mainland trips in her once finished in the future. The interior has been tidied up a fair bit since those last owner shots on here, and now is quite neat, but she will still get a professional renovation Anyway great to be on board, and i will post some photo's of the restoration as it progresses. cheers Greig Price

G'Day Pricey
Great to see another Olympic close by. Mine is/was listed as a 1967 build with a serial number of 1331 if this helps (or adds to the confusion).
Cheers Doug

Hey Pricey
1335 Most likely late 1967
Mine is 1635 and built Oct 68. Which was confirmed by Boblor and it had Oct 68 penciled in the wardrobe.
Keep trying photobucket you will master it eventually. ;D ;D Cheers Atog

quick up date on my progress with 1335.
Buffed gelcoat, amazed at the response took a week but looks a million bucks, its not a 2pac shine, but great for glass. New 14" 175x6 wheels, white with machined face and retro chrome caps. New chrome lighting out side. complete chassis repaint ( was in very good condition ) new jockey wheel and ball coupling. its starting to look cared for :-) all parts that were chrome have been replated and anything that wasn't chromed and could be now is . Just have to polish the aluminium windows or powdercoat ( havn't decided yet) and new decals and out side is almost done.
its fun isn't it! or am I weird?
Pricey
