Hi Guys i am nearing starting to put some final color on my van and as such thoughts have turned to a stripe down the side and around to the back on my 1957 Bondwood Phoenix. I think it should finish it off nicely but how too? i am a shocking artist and drawer so i need as many tips and ideas as possible Do you use a steel strip as a dress edge and if so where do you get it from and how do you fix it? I had thought of a pinstripe arrangement aka sign writer? I want it to look good so dont want to ruin it. I am leaning towards a strip that seems to be on the van of " Driftwood" on the latest calender is it steel or stencilled on? If so oohhh please all and any ideas greatly appreciated. Thanks Brett

G'day Brett, What I did with “Driftwood” (I think...it was 15 years ago) was get some ½ inch “half round” timber from the hardware store then prime and painted it. Starting at the front I tacked it to the 'van.. bending the timber as you work along towards the rear and making sure each of the nails hits the frame work behind the ply. I then drew a pencil line along the timber...removed it and painted the stripe on the 'van. When she's all dry I put “liquid nails” on the underside of the mould and re-nailed to the ply..... and she's done. You can get away doing it this way as long as the bend you want is not to severe... you could also use plastic mould, or even aluminum but I wouldn't advise that......... because it's not wood . One of the biggest decisions you will have to make is whether to paint the “half round” the colour of the 'van or the colour of the stripe.... I say paint it the colour of the 'van. I hope this helps.... come back at us if you need clarification on anything. Cobber.
